Empyrean Hospice is Hiring a Hospice Spiritual Care Coordinator Near Newnan, GA

Empyrean Hospice hires Spiritual Care Coordinators for the provision of spiritual care services to patients and families/caregivers of Empyrean Hospice, either directly or through coordination of care with other spiritual counselors.

Salary or hourly rate listed is the base for this role; increase commensurate with experience.

Position Overview – Spiritual Care Coordinator:

• Represent Empyrean Hospice with the utmost professionalism and compassion

• Provide spiritual assessment of patients and families/caregivers in the hospice program and ensure appropriate services are rendered in a timely manner

• Facilitate the development of the individualized plan of care by participating in the comprehensive assessment to meet identified spiritual needs

• Serve as a member of the interdisciplinary group and provide consultation, education, and support to the interdisciplinary group on spiritual care

• Provide direct spiritual care to patients and families/caregivers

• Serve as liaison and support to community chaplains and spiritual counselors

• Maintain records of spiritual care services utilization and related activities

• Recruit community chaplains, spiritual counselors, and spiritual care volunteers adequate to meet patient and family/caregiver needs by developing community contacts and offering education through congregations about hospice care

• Provide for funeral or memorial services for patients as requested

• Plan periodic memorial services to meet the needs of personnel, volunteers, and community clergy/spiritual counselors working with the hospice team

• Assists in supervision of spiritual care volunteers when assigned to patients/ families/caregivers

• Ensure standards of ethical business and clinical practice are prioritized

Position Qualifications

• Professionalism, compassion, empathy, and a desire to help others

• Graduate of accredited seminary or school of theology (BD, MDiv or equivalent theological degree). Experience working with death and dying, individuals/family/caregiver

• Self-directing with the ability to work with little direct supervision, yet also as member of a complete care team

• Understand the philosophy of hospice care and of grief response and experience with counseling individuals and/or in groups regarding loss

• Demonstrate comfort in an interfaith setting with ability to accept different lifestyles, cultures, beliefs, and values

• Ability to network with community clergy and congregations

• Possess strong communication skills, verbal and written, and organization skills

• Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state or organization requirements and is in good working order

• Must possess a willingness to maintain comprehensive working knowledge regarding information systems and applicable software programs
