Empyrean Hospice is Hiring a Hospice Licensed Practical Nurse / Licensed Vocational Nurse (LPN or LVN) Near Summerville, SC

Empyrean Hospice hires Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurses to provide direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse.

Salary or hourly rate listed is the base for this role; increase commensurate with experience.

Position Overview – Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse:

• Represent Empyrean Hospice with the utmost professionalism and compassion

• Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse and as defined in State Nurse Practice Act, including specialized duties related to end of life care

• Work collaboratively with the members of the interdisciplinary team to help meet positive patient care outcomes

• Assess and provide patient and family/caregiver education and information pertinent to diagnosis and the plan of care.

• Excellent observation, verbal, and written communication skills, organization and critical thinking skills, basic math skills; nursing skills per competency checklist

• Understand the philosophy of hospice and the needs of the terminally ill

• Complete, maintain, and submit accurate and relevant clinical notes regarding patient’s condition and care given

• Provide and maintain a safe environment for the patient and arrange equipment and other necessary items and services as needed

• Ensure standards of ethical business and clinical practice are prioritized

Position Qualifications

• Professionalism, compassion, empathy, and a desire to help others

• Self-directing with the ability to work with little direct supervision, yet also as member of a complete interdisciplinary care team

• Graduate of an accredited practical nurse or vocational nursing program

• Three years nursing experience. Community health/hospice or medical/surgical experience is preferred

• Currently licensed as an LPN/LVN in the State and complies with accepted professional standards and practice

• Demonstrates good verbal and written communication, and organization skills.

• Possesses and maintains current CPR certification

• Able to lift, position and/or transfer patients, and able to lift supplies and equipment

• Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state or organization requirements and is in good working order

• Must possess a willingness to maintain comprehensive working knowledge regarding information systems and applicable software programs
