What Does the Job Require of Me?
  • Plans, implements, directs, and evaluates the Nursing Assistant Training Program Center based on governmental regulations, and company policy.
  • Assists with recruitment of students, participates in student selection, and coordinates class dates with NA Program Director and Center staff.
  • Interprets and implements established Center policies, processes, and regulations for Nursing Assistants in training.
  • Supervises and evaluates Nursing Assistant conformance to Center and NA Program policies, processes, and regulations.
  • Maintains education records of classes conducted, attendance, and clinical performance of each nursing assistant trainees in an easily retrievable manner.
  • Maintains an education profile for each Nursing Assistant Student, listing each class attended, date, time period, and evaluation of performance.
  • Prepares lesson plans containing objectives, course content, method of instruction, and method of evaluation for each class scheduled and completed.
  • Conducts classroom and clinical activities of Nursing Assistant Students.
  • Demonstrates consistent ability to identify problems, report in an objective manner, and take appropriate corrective action.
  • Has supervisory authority for Nursing Assistant/Certified Nursing Assistant staff involved in training and education programs, including Clinical Teaching Associates.
  • Serves as a resource to the Clinical Teaching Associates (CTA) when supervising as the Primary Instructor.
What's Expected of Me?
  • Demonstrates clinical skills competency as a Licensed Nurse in providing resident care.
  • Demonstrates ability to elicit work output from nursing assistant students and improve quality of care while respecting the rights, dignity, and individuality of each employee.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks/responsibilities, complete duties/projects within allotted time, and to respond to change productively and handle additional tasks/projects as assigned.
  • Able to travel and/or attend education offerings.
  • Exhibits leadership skills (visionary, competent, honest, and inspiring). Displays high energy for the job, an upbeat, positive “can-do” approach. Leads by example; willing to pitch in and do whatever is necessary to get the job done. Creative problem-solver with strong follow-through.
  • Exceptionally strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate concepts at many levels (approachable, easy to talk with; active listener; open communicator, honest; reaches out to others, able to share feelings/concerns with other staff members; compassionate, caring person.)
  • Strong people skills; diplomatic in interaction with others (ability to coach, works well with various types of people and at multiple levels of training, a team builder; tolerant).
Education/Licensure:
  • Required: Current certification as a nursing assistant in the state of OR
  • Required: 1 years experience and demonstrated competence in planning, implementing, and directing education programs for adults in the nursing field.
  • Required: Experience in supervising nursing assistants.
  • Required: Completion of college course work in education or an approved Train-the-Trainer course in order to understand education principles germane to the adult learner.
