Position Summary

Step into the vital role of Dispensing Pharmacy Technician I at Empower and become a cornerstone of health care delivery. In this dynamic position, you are more than a technician; you are a lifeline to the patients who depend on us for their medication. Your responsibilities will include the meticulous preparation, packaging, and dispensing of pharmaceuticals, ensuring every prescription is handled with precision and care.

Schedule: Saturday - Tuesday, 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assists the pharmacist in preparing and dispensing prescription orders.
  • Performs all pharmacy duties, to include but not limited to, accurately refill previous orders, dispense medications, and maintain pharmacy records.
  • Possesses a thorough understanding of medications.
  • Ability to read and understand prescriber orders for compounded medications.
  • Labels and fills prescription bottles with prescribed medications.
  • Checks pharmaceutical stock to determine inventory levels; anticipates needed medications and supplies; places and expedites orders; removes outdated drugs; puts away drugs throughout the day in an orderly manner to assure area is organized.
  • Maintains production standards and levels.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to remain in a stationary position for a significant amount of the workday and frequently use their hands and fingers to handle or feel in order to access, input, and retrieve information from the computer and other office productivity devices. The employee is regularly required to move about the office and around the corporate campus. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Employee must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. This position also requires the occasional extra hours on given work day or weekend to ensure business goals are met on short notice.

Experience and Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must be registered with Texas Board of Pharmacy as a Certified Pharmacy Technician or Trainee.

  • Minimum one year of pharmacy experience or healthcare related experience preferred.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
