Empire City Laboratories is Hiring a Cytotechnologist Near Brooklyn, NY

  • Perform microscopic examination of cellular samples, applying staining techniques and employing various laboratory equipment to identify and classify abnormal cells.
  • Interpret the morphological features of cells to detect the presence of precancerous or cancerous conditions, infections, or other abnormalities.
  • Collaborate with pathologists and other healthcare professionals to evaluate test results and contribute to the formulation of accurate diagnosis reports.
  • Maintain accurate records of samples analyzed, test results, and any necessary follow-up procedures or recommendations.
  • Ensure quality control measures are implemented and followed rigorously to maintain accuracy and reliability of laboratory results.
  • Stay updated with the latest advances in cytological techniques, diagnostic criteria, and equipment to ensure the highest standard of practice.
  • Provide guidance and support to laboratory staff, including training new technicians or assistants, as needed.
  • Adhere to established laboratory safety protocols, including the proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, including evaluating and implementing new laboratory procedures or technologies.

Cytotechnologist Required Skills

  • Proficiency in cytological techniques, including specimen preparation, staining, and microscopic examination.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to accurately interpret microscopic images.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage a large volume of samples and maintain accurate records.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Cytotechnology or a related field. Some employers may require a Master's degree.
  • Certification as a Cytotechnologist by a recognized accrediting agency, such as the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited cytotechnology training program.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a cytology laboratory setting, performing microscopic examination and analysis of cellular samples.
  • Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and software specific to cytotechnological analysis.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory guidelines and proficiency in adhering to laboratory safety protocols.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to $62.00 per hour
