Description

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Reporting to the Sponsored Research Awards Manager in the Office of Research, Grants and Contracts (RGC), serves as a lead expert in sponsored research award setup.
  • Has responsibility for complex award setup of grants and contracts.
  • Receives, analyzes, and interprets sponsored award notices with high complexity for key information such as funding source, award type, billing mechanism, reporting requirements, and revenue recognition method.
  • Performs budgetary adjustments to properly establish awards in the university's accounting system with high accuracy.
  • Maintains expert-level knowledge, including required data, functionality, connectedness, and systematic nature of all award setup tasks for the university's systems related to award setup.
  • Provides expert knowledge of the processes, procedures, and policies related to sponsored awards documentation used.
  • Troubleshoots various system issues in conjunction with the lead or manager.
  • Identifies areas of improvement, assists in resolving system issues and troubleshoots various system issues in conjunction with the lead or manager.
  • Facilitates request from OSP, RGC and other business units and serves as a liaison between these offices.
  • Issues new projects, program income, or cost share accounts.
  • Reviews and maintains documentation related to processes such as award setup training materials, checklists, etc.
  • Organizes and conducts educational seminars/workshops for staff and the research community.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree and three years of business/finance, IT or research administration experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Experience with the PeopleSoft Financials and Grants module, or equivalent ERP system, is strongly preferred.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University location as needed and at times, on short notice. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
