Salary: $34.61- $68.21/hour

The grade and salary of the position are based on specific criteria met within the qualifications of each level, relevant experience, skills, performance and internal equity. This position is eligible for shift differentials.

Description

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Provides comprehensive clinical speech pathology services to patients.
  • Provides testing, analyses, and evaluation of seriously ill patients or those having complex medical problems.
  • Formulates a treatment plan consistent with the patient's needs.
  • Assures continuity of care through effective decision-making resulting in quality patient care.
  • Participates in department orientation of new staff. May serve as mentor for new staff and students.
  • Assists with supervision of support staff and students.
  • Assists with providing on-going performance feedback, addresses problems, orients and trains employees, verifies competency and identifies and suggests ways to develop skills.
  • Provides patient and family education, instructing and training patients and families regarding pertinent aspects of the patient's care.
  • Provides direct patient care to complex patients; performs specialized treatments according to the patient's individualized plan of care.
  • Plans, develops and implements a results oriented treatment plan responsive to the individualized needs of the patient which includes clear and measurable goals.
  • Collaborates with other members of the patient care team and utilizes community resources to plan for the continued care, support and follow-up of the patient after discharge.
  • Provides consultation and direct assistance to staff and physicians in management of patients.
  • Assists in providing consultation related to clinical management to the professional community and community at large.
  • Assists the department in mentoring clinical staff; provides skills training within their area of expertise.
  • Participates in committees addressing patient care related matters or other committees as requested by the department.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Current licensure in Speech-Language Pathology in the state of Georgia.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology issued by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
  • One year of Speech-Language Pathology experience.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification in accordance with the American Heart Association required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium): 20-50 lbs; 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks. ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock , Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work, Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
