Water Treatment Operators on the Yuma Proving Ground team come from all surrounding areas. The primary responsibility of the Water Treatment Operator is assisting with the operation and maintenance of the Water Treatment Plant and associated systems under general supervision. The ideal EMI Water Treatment Plant Operator has an ADEQ certification 2 and specialized training and experience in the trade of water operations.

Salary

$20.34 / hr. plus $4.23/ hr. fringe benefits used towards insurance and 401k!

Key Responsibilities
  • Assists with the operation of a water treatment plant and records data regarding treatment plant and associated systems including pressures, tank levels, flow rates and water quality using hand held testing devices
    • monitors and adjusts system pressures and tank levels using local SCADA
  • Assists with or performs chemical testing, including but not limited to pH, chlorine residual, hardness levels, and alkalinity, and determines proper corrective measures based on test results
  • Performs plant maintenance such as cleaning in place (CIP), cleaning and calibrating chemical feeders
  • Assists with diagnosing problems with mechanical or electrical equipment and performs tasks such as isolating valves, pumps or motors as necessary
  • Records and maintains operational and laboratory data
    • assists with the preparation of daily, weekly and monthly reports
Essential Skills
  • Judgment and Decision Making - Evaluates the best method of research and then exercises appropriate judgment in establishing priorities and resolving complex matters
  • Interpersonal Relationships - Develops and maintains cooperative and professional relationships with employees, managers, and representatives from other departments and organizations
  • Technology - Ability to utilize personal computer applications to include database administration, word processing, spreadsheet, SCADA and related software
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-year plumbing experience and familiarity with industrial safety standards
  • MUST acquire respirator clearance & comply with facial hair guidelines
  • ADEQ certification 2 OR
      • Must obtain ADEQ operator 1 certification within 6 months of employment
  • Valid driver's license
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check
  • Regular, dependable attendance required
  • U.S citizenship to obtain and maintain access to military installations
Physical Requirements
  • Tasks require the ability to exert moderate, though not constant physical effort
  • Some combination of climbing and balancing to include climbing ladders, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling
  • Some lifting to include overhead lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (10-20 pounds)
  • May occasionally involve heavier objects and materials (up to 50 pounds)
