Candidates selected for this position will work at either the Bayou Marcus Water Reclamation Facility or the Central Water Reclamation Facility (CWRF).
Wastewater Operator 
JOB SUMMARY: PG 105 - Starting pay is $18.04 hr.
Performs routine, semi-skilled work in the operation of a wastewater treatment plant and maintenance of associated equipment. Work is performed under the direction of a licensed operator.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Tours plant and facilities, inspects, and observes equipment and machinery. Records readings, adjusts, and regulates the operation of gauges, meters, and specialized equipment.
Operates motors, pumps, valves, generators, and specialized equipment and machinery.
Performs minor maintenance or informs supervisor of major repairs needed.
Collects samples from designated points, performs physical and chemical tests and records results.
Performs environmental tasks related to water quality.
Performs routine maintenance and custodial duties. May clean and maintain treatment plant grounds when necessary.
Enters data into computer program. May use computer to prepare reports.
All other duties as assigned.
Wastewater Operator (with experience)
JOB SUMMARY: H105 - Pay range is $18.04 - $29.77 hr.
Working on an assigned shift, performs skilled work in the operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant. Work direction may be exercised over lower-level operations personnel. Work is performed under the supervision of higher-level technical personnel. 
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Monitors the operation of various pieces of equipment and machinery to insure proper operation.
Adjusts various pieces of equipment to produce required effect.
Takes samples at various points in the process, performs physical and chemical tests, and records results.
Calibrates, reads, and records various meters and gages.
Performs general maintenance on plant equipment and machinery.
May prepare work orders for repairs beyond the capabilities of shift personnel.
May clean and maintain treatment plant grounds when necessary.
All other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications for a Wastewater Operator:
High school diploma or equivalent. (Educational documentation will be required upon offer of employment.)
Basic level of experience in use of computers.
Any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
All Operators are required to work rotating shift work. For example: at Bayou Marcus shifts are 6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm and 10pm-6am.
Licenses and Certifications:
Requires the possession of a valid Driver License.
Possession of or ability to obtain a Class "C" Domestic Wastewater Operator's License as issued by the Department of Environmental Protection within 24 months. (Requires completion of licensing coursework within 13 months of hire.)
Minimum Qualifications for a Wastewater Operator with experience:

High school diploma or equivalent. (Educational documentation will be requested upon offer of employment.)

One year of experience in the operation and maintenance of equipment and machinery of a wastewater treatment plant.
Basic level of experience in use of computers.
Operators may be required to work rotating shift work. For example: 28 day rotation of 7-3, 3-11, and 11-7; and/or 6am to 6pm for two weeks and 6pm to 6am for two weeks. 
Licenses and Certifications:
Possession of a Class "C" Domestic Wastewater Facilities Operator License as issued by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
Requires the possession of a valid Driver License.
Employment offers to all new hires are contingent upon the job candidates successfully passing background, motor vehicle and reference checks, drug screening, and post job offer physicals (that may include pulmonary testing). All applicants are subject to physical assessments as required by job.
The employee is regularly required to sit, stand and walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, turn, reach with hands and arms, bend body downward and forward by bending legs and spine, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
The employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions, fumes and/or airborne particles, noxious odors, dust, mist, and/or gases; work near moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, and toxic, acidic, or caustic chemicals.
The incumbent's working conditions are moderately quiet and occasionally loud.
As a disaster team member, the employee is required to be available to work before, during, and after any disaster as directed.
