Job Title: Fabrication Shop Supervisor - 2nd Shift

The primary function of this role is to supervise all aspects of Fabrication Shop and yard operations and includes training and supervision of Fabrication Shop employees. The Company goal is to continuously grow the revenues of the Fabrication Shop, while maintaining profits, satisfying customers’ requirements, and staying compliant with NFPA guidelines. 

This job requires the ability and desire to work in a fast paced multi tasked environment with a focus towards production and personnel management. 

* Hours are 3:45PM - 2:15AM. Monday - Thursday. Average hours 55 - 60 hours per week. Hours may vary based on operational needs. *

 Essential Duties / Responsibilities:

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Prepare Fabrication Shop for operation prior to the start of each shift so that work may begin promptly at the shift start time.
  • Responsible for building security.
  • Assist in the trouble shooting, maintenance, and fixes for all shop floor equipment.
  • Inventory weld consumables twice weekly
  • Maintain a physical presence on the shop floor for the duration of each shift, most importantly, before and after all breaks.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Review production and material puller reports and assign work as appropriate.
  • Ensure that employees are consistently communicating appropriate information throughout the shift via Company radios.
  • Ensure that employees are using safe and effective work practices.
  • Update and complete line apps in FMS throughout the shift as needed.
  • Identify and correct production inefficiencies and coach employees when appropriate.
  • Execute the planned production schedule.
  • Maintain consumable levels to prevent interruptions in production.
  • Prepare and collect all required paperwork during each shift.
  • Ensure that trash and scrap is disposed of accordingly during each shift.
  • Complete weekly Tool Box safety talks with employees.
  • Perform inspections on all ada-cap assemblies when applicable
  • Perform weekly Safety Inspections as assigned
  • Attend weekly supervisors’ meeting.
  • Submit ideas to improve Fabrication Shop production and operations to the VP, Operations Support.
  • Train, coach, discipline, and counsel Fabrication Shop employees as needed.

 Education / Work Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 3-5 years of experience as a production supervisor in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Experience working in a union environment is a plus.

 Computer Skills:

  • Significant experience with Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel) applications required.
