This position is located in Klamath Falls, Oregon and does not allow for remote work

Responsibilities

Occupational therapists (OTs) play a crucial role in helping individuals of all ages overcome physical, mental, or developmental challenges and achieve independence in their daily lives. The job duties of an occupational therapist can vary depending on the setting, population, and specific needs of the clients, but here are some common responsibilities:

  • Assessment and Evaluation:

    • Conduct thorough assessments of clients to determine their physical, cognitive, emotional, and social abilities.Identify clients' strengths and limitations in daily activities, work, and leisure.
  • Treatment Planning:

    • Develop personalized treatment plans based on the assessment findings and client goals.Collaborate with clients, families, and other healthcare professionals to set realistic and achievable goals.
  • Intervention and Therapy:

    • Implement therapeutic interventions to improve clients' ability to perform activities of daily living (ADLs), such as dressing, bathing, and eating.Provide rehabilitation services to enhance fine motor skills, coordination, balance, and sensory processing.Use adaptive equipment and assistive technologies to facilitate independence.
  • Counseling and Education:

    • Educate clients and their families about their conditions and ways to manage them.Offer emotional support and counseling to help clients cope with the challenges they face.
  • Collaboration with Other Professionals:

    • Work closely with other healthcare professionals, such as physical therapists, speech therapists, and physicians, to provide comprehensive care.Attend team meetings and contribute to interdisciplinary care planning.
  • Documentation:

    • Maintain detailed and accurate records of assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes.Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
  • Research and Continuing Education:

    • Stay updated on the latest advancements in occupational therapy through professional development and continuing education.Participate in research activities to contribute to the field and improve therapeutic techniques.
  • Advocacy:

    • Advocate for the rights and needs of clients with disabilities.Work to promote inclusivity and accessibility in various settings.
  • Community Outreach:

    • Engage in community outreach programs to promote awareness of occupational therapy and its benefits.Provide education to the community on preventive measures and wellness.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's or Master's Degree and State Licensure Required
    • Must be at least 21 years of age
    • Minimum of five years' experience working with clients in applicable setting preferred
    • Excellent leadership skills, strong communication skills, and must be creative with excellent problem-solving skills
    • Must be able to pass a Background Criminal Investigation
    • Must hold a valid driver's license with clean driving record
    • CPR/First Aid Certification

    $28.00 - $32.00 per hour DOE
