JOB PURPOSE:The Simulation Coordinator is a faculty member who has primary responsibility to organize and support simulation learning experiences that take place in the Nursing skills. This involves collaboration with faculty teaching courses that require practice and clinical simulation experiences in the one or more of the various laboratories. The preferred candidate will have experience in simulation and clinical instruction and be responsible for maintenance of equipment, and ordering supplies. It may also be within this role to teach up to one course per term if necessary. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILIES:With the Associate Dean of BSN program, develops a simulation center that meets accreditation requirementsCreate a learning environment that will enhance students’ ability to use critical thinking and clinical judgment skillsWork closely with departmental and adjunct faculty to plan and implement simulation strategies that will increase student ability to meet accreditation clinical requirementsMaintain records of simulation equipment use, student performance, and data points necessary for Plan budget for equipment and supply needsDeveloping and implementing high quality learning and assessment simulationsEvaluating the effectiveness of simulations as educational and assessment toolsFacilitating simulation scenario and student participation with debriefing sessionsTraining simulation users in simulation activities, operation of patient simulators, audio-visual equipment, and their maintenanceCoordinating maintenance of patient simulators, part-task trainers, and virtual equipmentSupervise any graduate assistants employed in the Simulation LabTeach one nursing course per termAttend School of Nursing faculty meetingsParticipate as a member of the School of Nursing Curriculum CommitteeParticipate in School of Nursing community activities related to the skills lab, i.e. open houses, accepted students day and tours QUALIFICATIONS:Masters in Nursing; or currently matriculated in a master's programTwo or more years of recent clinical nursing experience; preferred medical-surgical nursing experienceMinimum of one year teaching experience; academic teaching experience preferredExperience in utilizing simulation technology; designing and implementing innovative teaching strategiesAdvanced computer skills including word processing and data base management Demonstrated leadership and management AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES SPECIFICATIONS:Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
