Description

Summary of Position

To maintain, repair, and service all types of mobile heavy equipment (gas, diesel, or propane) and in-plant mobile equipment such as, but not limited to forklifts, front-end loaders, and excavators

Duties and Responsibilities

• Inspects and tests equipment at prescribed intervals of time or usage or because of breakdown or malfunction. Immediately removes from service any potentially dangerous equipment

• Disassembles, inspects, and replaces worn or broken parts and maintains electrical systems and controls.

• Test drives repaired equipment before turning over to operators.

• Maintains records of vehicle maintenance and parts usage.

• Notifies supervisor of potentially dangerous equipment.

Qualifications

"•Satisfactory work record, including attendance.

•Forklift Maintenance or similar heavy equipment certification required, degree in Industrial Automation Engineering technology preferred

•Must be able to wear protective equipment such as goggles, face shield, gloves, and work apron.

•Frequently involves heavy lifting, pulling (up to 50 pounds) or working in awkward positions or lying on back on auto mechanic's ""creeper,"" working beneath truck.

•Uses trades type tools or hand tools
