The Lead Pharmacy Technician is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and productive workflows in the day-to-day operations of the inpatient pharmacy technician staff. The Lead Technician provides direct supervision for pharmacy technicians, pharmacy inventory clerks, pharmacy interns, and other support staff in coordination with and under the scope of the Pharmacy Operations Manager. This is a certified technical position and requires an active pharmacy technician certification.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT(S):

• High School or GED diploma is required
• Completion of a certified pharmacy technician training program is required
• Five years of experience as a pharmacy technician with at least one year of experience in a Pharmacy leadership role
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
• Possess considerable knowledge of drug names, medical terminology, pharmaceutical calculations and different pharmacy work areas and equipment used
• Ability to operate a computer and use related software

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Should be able to push/pull, lift/move 15 lb., be able to perform moderately difficult manual manipulations such as using a keyboard, writing, and filing for extended periods of time, must be able to perform tasks which require hand-eye coordination such as data entry, typing and using photo copiers. Mobility requirements may include the ability to be stationary at a workstation for a prolonged period time in addition to being able to squat or be mobile for a reasonable length of time and distance. Communication requirements include the ability to comprehend the spoken English language in addition to being able to communicate and read the English language.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:

• Complies with all state and federal laws and regulations, in addition to the policies and procedures of Ellis Medicine including all relevant regulatory requirements
• Leads and coordinates work activities for the pharmacy technician staff under the direction of the Pharmacy Operations Manager
• Directly responsible for the management of pharmacy technicians including training, assessments, workflow management, and technician schedules
• Actively participates in hiring, disciplinary actions, maintaining payroll records and time reports for pharmacy technicians
• Responds to daily problems and informal grievances of technician staff and escalates information to the appropriate manager to resolve issues
• Assists with pharmacy operational tasks such as workflow changes and project implementation
• Conduct technician meetings to assure staff are appropriately briefed on departmental and hospital communications
• Manage daily operations of technician-related Pharmacy services, including developing, updating, and reviewing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for all technician duties
• Performs tasks for the IV room outer core and may become registered with the state for additional duties if applicable
• Perform additional tasks at the discretion of and in support of pharmacy operations team
• Performs the above duties in addition to the duties of a Pharmacy Technician as needed

Salary Range: $16.63-$24.11/hour Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
