DEPUTY I

DEPARTMENT: Elkhart County Assessor’s Office

HIRING RANGE: $17.19-$19.10/hour based on education and position related experience. Longevity pay after 3 years.

HOURS & DAYS OF WORK: Monday 8:00-5:00 p.m., Tuesday-Friday 8:00-4:00 p.m.

LOCATION OF POSITION: Goshen

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Within County (please complete driving page on application)

JOB SUMMARY:
This position assists with the assessing of property for taxing purposes and evaluates customer’s needs and provides service as appropriate. Opportunity available for future professional development through career development.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Valid Driver’s License
• Ability to obtain Level I certification within one year of hire
• Thorough knowledge of legislative policies/regulations and ability to apply knowledge to review documents and prepare reports
• Excellent organizational and communications skills
• Ability to work alone or with others in a team environment
• Ability to read/interpret detailed legal descriptions, maps, and Assessor’s manuals
• Pre-employment background check
