POSITION: EHS Head Baseball Coach

LOCATION: Elizabethton High School

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Elizabethton City Schools is looking for a head coach that is a dynamic communicator and motivator of student-athletes. An individual that will develop and maintain a positive educational environment as the leader of the team. The head coach must be able to manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions, while promoting individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship. The head coach will be present and active during any activity involving baseball athletes.

REQUIREMENTS:

• High School diploma required.
• An active Tennessee teaching license with appropriate teaching certifications are desired but may not be required.
• Successful experience in the coaching field, with successful experience in the high school environment preferred.
• Meet the health and physical requirements and be fingerprinted, background checked, and health screening.

DUTIES:

As the leader of the team, the head coach shall:

• Be a positive influence and role model for players and parents, while expecting the same from their players..
• Coordinate and actively work with the EHS Director of Athletics, baseball assistant coaches, the Baseball Parent Organization, other ECS coaches, T. A. Dugger middle school team and other local feeder programs to promote consistency, continuity, core beliefs, values, and expectations while promoting excellence on and off the field of play.
• Coordinate development, promotion, and retention for the Baseball Program.
• Develop and organize a regular practice and game schedule with other coaches to provide both individual and team development along with consistent implementation of expectations.
• Coordinate with the school system transportation program to provide bus transportation to and from games.
• Actively support student athlete post-secondary goals and assist student-athletes with college recruitment.
• Possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, governing organizations (TSSAA), opponents, officials, staff, parents, and students.
• Ensure that players have an excellent understanding of the game, and TSSAA rules/guidelines.
• Incorporate best practices into a growth-oriented teaching/coaching style
• Perform duties with high expectations for themselves, their staff, and their players.
• Must develop and manage a team budget strictly according to bookkeeping procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The persons employed in this position will be paid a supplement for his/her coaching duties. The starting date for the persons employed in this position will be immediate upon the fulfillment of employment requirements.
