SALARY RANGE: $49,034 - $61, 634 DOE

Job GoalTo provide quality instructional/functionally-based services to children with severe needs according to the Individual Educational Plan for each child.
Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesAbide by Board policies and other state and federal regulations concerning students with disabilities.
Seek a cooperative working relationship with the staff of the building to provide services to students with special needs.
Participate in professional activities as part of the teaching assignment.
Demonstrate high standards of professionalism and ethics.
Maintain confidentiality of information concerning colleagues, students, paraprofessionals and parents.
Maintain adequate and current knowledge of content within the respective teaching areas.
Serve as assigned multi-disciplinary and individualized education program team member concerning children with disabilities as appropriate.
Provide appropriate educational evaluation for students and complete IEP's.
Provide direct instructional services for identified students with disabilities according to their approved individual education programs.
Additional ExpectationsKnowledge and application of basic first aide and CPR skills.
Possess a broad general knowledge of all subject areas with specific knowledge needed in cognitive delays and life skills programming.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Possess knowledge of psychological, emotional, educational, and behavioral development of children.
Possess classroom management skills which include discipline as well as record keeping and assessment ability.
Possess technological and computer skills.
Possess the ability to effectively collaborate with the school staff, support service providers, as well as exercising positive parent interactions.
Ability to provide appropriate feeding and toiletry skills to students, as needed, and to physically maintain the routine of lifting and positioning students many times throughout the school day.
Ability to educate, supervise and carefully instruct the paraprofessionals that are hired to assist in carrying out the goals and objectives of each student.
Ability to set up a schedule for paraprofessionals, and evaluate their work performance throughout the school year.
Ability to work with staff in the assigned building for inclusion activities, as appropriate, for the students.
To provide consultation and assistance to administrators, parents, teachers, with regard to transition, home programs, technical needs, or other topics as deemed necessary.
To attend staff meetings and professional organizations for training workshops.
