Summary
Expert in determining Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) codes for inbound and outbound freight and will drive the inventory management using USA and international government regulations. The role requires proficiency in handling external documentation for shipping, managing export licenses, and serving as an expert in inbound and outbound freight carriers. Will also be the company's expert in import compliance related to sanctions, embargoes, and regulatory.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Drive shipping costs down through contract management but keep compliance and regulatory control.

· Import and Export Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant import and export regulations, including but not limited to customs laws, trade agreements, and export control regulations.

· HTS and Tariff Code Determination: Accurately determine and assign appropriate Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) codes and tariff codes for products.

· Inventory Management: Drive the inventory management for HTS, ensuring compliance and efficiency in import processes.

· External Documentation: Manage and prepare external documentation required for shipping, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.

· Export License Oversight: Oversee the export license process, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with export regulations.

· Freight Carrier Expertise: Serve as an expert in inbound and outbound freight carriers, optimizing logistics operations for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

· Proven experience in international order processing, including coordination with foreign distributors, preparation of shipping documents, and managing order fulfillment processes.

· Strong background in customer service, demonstrating effective communication and problem-solving skills in responding to customer inquiries, handling complaints, and ensuring a positive customer experience.

· Maintain a working knowledge and understanding of International Air Transport Association (IATA) regulations and Dangerous Goods Shipping regulations to ensure compliance when shipping medical devices.

· Assists with related special projects, as required.

Qualifications
· 5 years of proven experience in logistics coordination, tariff code determination, and export compliance.

· In-depth knowledge of Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) codes and regulations.

· Strong analytical skills and attention to detail in external documentation preparation.

· Familiarity with export licensing procedures and compliance.

· Expertise in managing inbound and outbound freight carriers to optimize logistics operations.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with internal teams and external partners.

Preferred Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as supply chain management, logistics, or business.

· Demonstrated certification from IATA or relevant experience indicating proficiency in international air transport regulations and procedures.

· Certification in handling dangerous goods (DG) shipments or relevant experience ensuring compliance with hazardous materials transportation regulations.

· Previous experience in a similar role within the industry.

· Proficiency in shipping contract negotiation, including successful negotiation outcomes and cost-effective agreements.

· Additional expertise in customs regulations and international trade.

· Certification in supply chain management or related fields.

· Familiarity with industry-specific software and tools.
