Residential Manager Job Description

Job Title: Residential Manager

Department: Restorative Care 

Reports To: Restorative Care Director

FLSA Status: Full-time (Exempt)

Organization

Elijah Rising is a Christian non-profit organization that provides safety through Prayer, Awareness, Intervention, and Restoration for victims of sex trafficking.

Elijah Rising's Restoration program serves survivors through residential care in a therapeutic setting. Centered around the eight dimensions of wellness, Elijah Rising provides safe housing, food, utilities, clothing, personal supplies, access to medical and dental care, professional therapy, life skills training, emotional skills, occupational resources, job skills, case management, spiritual care, and transportation 24/7/365.

Summary

The Residential Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Elijah Rising restorative care program and the supervision of residential staff and volunteers. The Residential Manager will assist with the development of effective program planning and implementation. She collaborates with the CARE team to provide the optimal continuum of care for each participant. 

Required Duties and Responsibilities 

(Other duties may be assigned as necessary)

  • Leads and guides Bible studies, devotionals, and prayer and worship times as needed.

Management and Supervision

  • Oversees residential staff and volunteers
  • Develops staff schedules including planning for back-ups, emergency response, and 24/7 coverage for the home
  • Helps identify and foresee future staffing needs
  • Participates in the screening process of staff and volunteer selection 
  • Attends and leads (when requested) regular staff meetings for residential staff and CARE team
  • Oversees the integration of all volunteers for the program including training, hospitality, and scheduling
  • Reviews shift notes on no less than a weekly basis to maintain an ongoing awareness of house activities and interactions 
  • Maintains timely communication with staff and volunteers concerning scheduling, events, organizational updates, and policy changes
  • Provides regular progress updates regarding residents and staff 
  • Participates in evaluations and assessments of residents, including any discipline or discharge measures
  • Participates in evaluations and assessments of staff, including any discipline or discharge measures
  • Reports any and all significant actions, including but not limited to abuse, neglect, excessive conflict, flagrant disrespect, violence, dishonesty, or theft on the part of either residents or team to the management team immediately and ensures appropriate action is taken
  • Oversees the distribution and collection of completing resident surveys
  • Ensures each completing resident receives a phone call or card on her birthday

House Management 

  • Ensures all current and archived program files are filed securely, accurately, and in a timely way. Oversees the appropriate retention of files long term
  • Collaborates with residential staff to coordinate and facilitate activities of the daily schedule with residents, staff, and volunteers
  • Assists in any participant program requirements such as intake and exits, groups, assessments, reviews, etc. 
  • Assists residential staff as needed to arrange for transportation for residents’ needs
  • Ensures the daily operation of the household stays within the guidelines, core values, mission, and policies of Elijah Rising
  • Coordinates with CARE team to ensure continual services to support residents
  • Provides training and leadership to residential staff regarding household management and routine maintenance
  • Ensures the safety of all residents by implementing, monitoring, and enforcing the policies and protocols of the Program
  • Orients residents to the program’s residential requirements and standards
  • Plans, schedules, and ensures the completion of chores by residents and staff
  • Lead the implementation of crisis management plans as needed such as preparing the household for severe weather events
  • Oversees accurate hourly reporting for all residential staff, meeting deadlines as needed
  • Provides crisis assistance as needed, including overnight as needed
  • Maintains the facility regularly such as replacing batteries, light bulbs, door codes, air filters, etc. 

Finance

  • Oversees the household expenses and procedures to ensure adherence to the budget
  • Facilitates timely financial reporting from all residential staff
  • Ensures residential staff are adhering to Elijah Rising’s fiscal policies 
  • Provides oversight and accountability to the points management process for residents 

Essential Functions

  • Assists residential coordinators in implementing meal planning and documentation, and ensure the completion of shift checklists by staff 
  • Assists case manager(s) to develop individualized, comprehensive program plans with both long and short-term goals identified, including plan B, crisis, and relapse plans
  • Connects case managers with appropriate resources to assist with goals
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining an on-call schedule to ensure continuous coverage can be provided 24/7 to meet the needs of residents and awake 24/7 care during times of crisis as needed
  • Assists with intake and orientation of new residents, as needed
  • Consults with medical, dental, vision, and mental health providers regarding resident treatment plans, as needed
  • Leads residential coordinator meetings when the program director is not present and works to promote healthy team communication, culture, and cohesion across domains
  • Regularly reviews resident progress with case managers and program director
  • Oversees accurate and consistent communication of appropriate metrics to program coordinator through the activity reporting system (TimeStar)
  • Oversees the supplies and domestic operations of the residence 
  • Communicates in an appropriate and timely way with the Operations Director regarding maintenance issues 
  • Responsible for overseeing all volunteer interactions within the residential program
  • This role is the direct supervisor for residential staff and volunteers

Qualifications

  • Must have excellent communication, writing, and language skills
  • Must be extremely detail-oriented in order to effectively track and report metrics
  • Must have strong time-management skills
  • Excellent computer skills needed
  • Able to create spreadsheets, graphs, charts, presentations, and other documents
  • Must be able to manage time efficiently to meet expected weekly deadlines
  • Able to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals and general business periodicals 
  • Able to write reports, presentations, blogs, and essays, as needed
  • Must be able to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions in practical situations
  • Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

Other Requirements

  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license and valid vehicle insurance
  • Must be able to drive a 15-passenger van
  • Must be able to drive on the highway for long distances (2 hours )
  • Must successfully pass background checks and random drug testing during employment
  • Employees are frequently required to stand, walk, and drive
  • Vision requirements include close vision, far-range vision, and the ability to focus 
  • Hearing requirements include the ability to hear a normal conversation in normal ranges and the ability to be in moderate to loud environments for extended periods of time
  • Occasionally required to lift/carry and push/pull up to 50 lbs
  • Occasionally required to climb stairs, bend or stoop, kneel or crouch

Education, Training, and Experience 

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • One or more years of experience working in trauma-care preferred
