Description:

The Speech language Pathologist primary purpose is to plan, organize, develop, and direct our facility’s Speech therapy services in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, and as may be directed by the administrator, to assure that the highest degree of quality resident care can be maintained at all times.

Responsibilities for the Speech-language Pathologist :

  • Responsible for evaluation and treatment of residents who demonstrate disorders of speech, language, cognitive communication, voice, fluency, and swallowing.
  • Ensure evaluation and treatment will be conducted after written order received from physician.
  • Attending all required facility meetings and in services, including Medicare meetings, Patient staffing, family meetings and care plan
  • In cooperation with the administrator to develop programs appropriate to the needs of the residents in the facility, to assist them in achieving their highest feasible level of functioning.
  • Assist the facility in meeting the standards necessary to obtain state, federal, and other appropriate certification
  • Employ and follow all appropriate facility infection control policies and procedures and will respect, and follow OBRA resident's Rights Guidelines.
  • Responsible for the appropriate scheduling of resident’s caseloads in addition to all required in services and meetings. 

Qualifications for theSpeech language Pathologist:

  • Master of Science degree in Speech Language Pathologist (SLP)
  • Experience with Trachs and Vents (Preferred)
  • SNF experience (Preferred)
  • State Licensure (Required)
  • Asha Certification (Required)
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
