Element Materials Technology is Hiring a Senior Battery Test Technician Near Auburn, MI

Overview

Element has an opportunity for a Senior Battery Test Technician to join our rapidly expanding team. As a member of the operations team, the Senior Test Technician position performs a variety of routine and non-routine testing assignments within the department assigned and insures timely and accurate test results under minimal direct supervision. The technician positions must be proficient in a number of core business skills including but not limited to compliance to established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, sets-up and performs a variety of test according to customer specifications and requirements
  • Responsible for mechanical and electrical teardown of high voltage battery pack and module assemblies
  • Responsible for design and development of fixturing or work aids to support high voltage battery pack teardown
  • Generate test reports, as needed
  • Responsible for interface to safety coordinator for procedure development and incident resolution
  • Requires little supervision and technical input of a Department Manager, Principal Technician, Project Coordinator or Engineer
  • Possesses the ability to mentor and train technicians who have less experience through effective communication of technical data
  • Ability to transfer technical knowledge/requirements and successfully satisfy and meet customer specifications

Skills / Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of laboratory safety
  • Must have earned Associate degree in related testing or science field and/or possess 3-6 years of experience in a testing related field
  • Experience with high voltage battery packs or other DC voltage products

  • Experience with battery pack assembly and disassembly preferred

  • Able to work while using high voltage personal protective equipment like arc flash suit, gloves, and

    boots

  • In-depth understanding of testing concepts
  • Analyzes and compiles testing data from the tests performed
  • Possess strong computer skills
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry a plus
