GENERAL INFORMATION

DEFINITION

The M & I Technician, under the direction of the M & I Foreman, provides maintenance and inspection services for all work on the ED3 Transmission & Distribution System.

JOB SUMMARY

Perform system inspections on field distribution system equipment as dictated by the eSMART program.

Preventive Maintenance System.

  • Poles
  • Transformers (pad and pole mount)
  • Capacitor Banks (pad and pole mount)
  • Voltage Regulators
  • GPS locate, inspect, and certify trench and conduit installations prior to backfill.
  • Oversee mule tape installation and conduit testing
  • Participates heavily in the District's Drone Program to perform necessary inspections.

Perform basic system maintenance on distribution system equipment as dictated by the eSMART program.

Recondition field equipment (paint, lubricate, etc.) as directed.

Perform distribution system work as directed. Provide line location services. Inspect field equipment after installation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Take direction and implement various work and inspection strategies to complete work efficiently.
  • Work well independently with little supervision.
  • Work well with outside entities such as home builders and contractors.
  • Work effectively in a high-demand environment with shifting priorities and changing plans.
  • Able to identify, assess, and resolve safety issues in a timely manner.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Working knowledge of conduit systems.
  • Basic knowledge of power distribution and utility specifications.
  • Basic understanding of GIS receivers and data requirements.

REQUIREMENTS

  • US Citizen or ability to legally work in the US.
  • Pass employment drug screening test.
  • Read color-coded information.
  • Possess a valid Arizona-issued driver license.
  • Able to communicate clearly, confidently, and professionally with staff and outside personnel.

Physical Requirements:

  • Perform physical labor for extended periods in Arizona heat.
  • Lift heavy objects such as transformer pads and junction boxes up to 100 lbs.
  • Remain stationary for prolonged periods.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma.
  • Construction industry experience.
  • Experience with construction specifications.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work outdoors out of their vehicle 90% of the time. It requires some physical labor.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $24.00 per hour
