El Rio Community Health Center is Hiring a Physician - Occupational Medicine Near Tucson, AZ

The Occupational Medicine (OM) physician oversees the patient's diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of occupational illnesses and/or injury, and prepares patients for return to work after illness or injury or may act as a consultant to identify workplace health hazards. The OEM enhances the health of workers through preventive medicine, clinical care, disability management, research, and education and delivers primary or specialty care to new and established patients in accordance with the licensure and the highest standards of quality and integrity. Physician is responsible for evaluating patients, performing examinations, and establishing preventive health practices; ordering or executing various tests, analyses, and diagnostic images to provide information on patient's condition; recording information about patient's medical history. The physician will coordinate programs and care with internal wellness practitioners (El Rio health builder team, physical therapists, sports medicine providers, primary care providers, etc.) and external stakeholder groups (specialists when needed, employer groups, Arizona Industrial Commission, DOT, insurance carriers, etc.) The completion of these duties, tasks, or assignments requires a high level of independent judgment and decision-making in the execution of the scope or authority and responsibility for the position. Physician must be able to successfully perform all essential functions, duties, tasks, assignments, and responsibilities assigned within the El Rio organization at a location assigned by management. The incumbent in this position works with general direction and review, and has discretion and independent judgment authority with respect to matters of significance for the assigned area. The primary goal of the El Rio Health Occupational Medicine (OM) Physician is to support El Rio’s Mission of providing comprehensive, quality health care that is affordable and accessible to all who may have healthcare needs, by successfully performing the primary essential functions. Minimum Education and Experience: Five (5) years of experience working as an occupational health physician. Doctor of Medicine Degree from an accredited medical school or Graduate of College of Osteopathic Medicine or accredited by the American Osteopathic Association If applicable, equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered, and must be directly related to the functions and responsibilities of the job. Required Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations: Licensure from the Board of Medical Examiners, State of Arizona. Board Certified or eligible by the American Board of Preventive Medicine (ABPM) in Occupational Medicine (OM) Must become credentialed at El Rio prior to treating patients. Must have and maintain a current Arizona state license as a Physician including prescriptive authority. Must obtain and maintain a current Federal Drug Enforcement Agency License (DEA) for prescribing controlled substances. Must obtain and maintain current certification in Basic Life Support. Remains current with all licensure requirements, compliance training, Code of Conduct, and other regulations. Employees in this position are required to have reliable transportation that can meet any operational reassignments of the organization during the workday. If an employee is driving during work hours, the employee is required to possess a valid driver’s license and must comply with Arizona vehicle insurance requirements. Preferred Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities: Board Certified by the American Board of Preventive Medicine (ABPM) in Occupational and Medicine (OM). Ability to interact with persons of various social, cultural, and economic and educational backgrounds for the purpose of providing exceptional guidance and customer service; Ability to build business/clinical relationships with medical staff and management. Show an ability to investigate and evaluate patient care practices, appraise and assimilate scientific evidence, and improve the practice of medicine. Demonstrate awareness of and responsibility to the larger context and systems of health care.Be able to call on system resources to provide optimal care (e.g. coordinating care across sites or serving as the primary case manager when care involves multiple specialties, professions or sites).Demonstrate skills that result in effective information exchange and teaming with patients, their families and professional associates. Demonstrate a commitment to carrying out professional responsibilities, adherence to ethical principles and sensitivity to diverse patient populations.
