Visit our website to learn more about our organization: https://elbuen.org/Job DescriptionEl Buen Samaritano Episcopal Mission (“El Buen”) seeks a Summer Camp Coordinator Assistant. As part of the team, you will provide support to the Youth Development Coordinators andsupervisionofgroupsofchildreninanacademic,recreational,and/orenrichmentsetting during Summer Camp. You will ensurethesafetyofthestudentswhileassistinginthedevelopmentandexecutionof a programplanwhichoccursduringsummercamp. Dependingontheprogram,position maylead a project,activity,ortutorstudents inadvanced academic subjects. This position will be in an in-person environment, beginning Tuesday, May 28 (Monday – Thursday from 8:30am – 3:30pm through August 1 (With a week break from July 1st – 4th).
EssentialFunctions:
Assist with leading and supervising a group of students, approximately 15-20during summer camp programming in June and July.
Works with youth development coordinatorsto develop and implement a scheduleofactivitieswhich meet thephysical,emotional,socialand cognitiveneeds of thechildren.Thesewill include individualand groupactivities.
Contributes to thedevelopment ofand implements age-appropriate STEAM lesson plans and activities,includingsocial/emotionallearning that engageall participants and adapts activities as needed.
Identifies educationaland behavioralgoals ofindividualchildren and groups ofchildren and implements STEAM curriculum that actualizes goals,engaging inongoing evaluation and adjustment as needed.
When on-site, ensures that thechildren areproperlysupervised at all times.
Assigns tasks to volunteers and supervises theirinteractions with students, parents and peers.
Ensures programrequirements aremet on a dailybasis.
Attends daily meetings with the youth team and supervisor.
Lead and teach the class when Youth Development Coordinator is not available.
Assists youth development coordinators in distributing healthy snacks ormeals as pertheCentralTexas Food Bankafterschooland summermeal serviceprogramstandards.
Promotes and models desired behaviorand actions, healthy habits,properhygiene, and physical activity.
Maintains a safeand cleanenvironment by keeping the youth classrooms cleanand organized,cleaning thefacilityand toys as necessary,andremoving physicalhazards in theclassroomsoronthecourtyardorEl Buenfacilities,reports safetyandhealth issues immediatelyto supervisorormaintenance.
Understands and implements emergencyprocedures in caseoffire, tornados, orotheremergencies; whennecessary,administers First-Aid/CPR
AdditionalJobDuties:
Assists withstudent registration,placement examinations and test scoring.
Helps maintain files and database;assists inpreparing student records as wellas class attendance, registration andreport cards foreach individual student.
Mayprovideadditionalsupport throughout thefamilyliteracydepartment.
Performs other relatedduties as assigned.
What You Will Bring:
Graduation from high schooland a CDAorAssociates in EarlyChildhood.
At least oneyearof experienceworking with youthrequired.
Demonstrated experienceworking with children in a group setting.
Understanding ofteaching strategies for workingwith learning differences
Demonstrated competencyassisting with basic math,reading and otherelementarylevel schoolwork.
Demonstrated cross-cultural sensitivityworkingwith ourclients and Spanish-speakers.
Strong verbalcommunication and interpersonalskills
BilingualinEnglish/Spanish stronglypreferred.
Abilityto relatewelltoyoung children inanencouraging and positiveway.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); ability to learn and utilize document creation software such as Adobe Acrobat and databases.
Must pass all required criminal history background checks; have a valid Texas driver's license.
Ability to use technology to facilitate virtual lessons, attend meetings and provide student support.
