Description
The Personal Care Worker is a part-time position that involves assisting adults, who have severe disabilities, in meeting their personal care needs. Staff will utilize safety procedures while caring for the clients in order to protect themselves and others.Work involves feeding and cafeteria set-up procedures, toileting, and any other personal care areas, which do not require medical training.
Part Time Position, Monday thru Friday, 8 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.
No nights or weekends.
Non-Exempt Status, Pay bi-weekly.
Core Functions:
1.Provide assistance as needed for clients in all toileting and personal care needs.Carefully follows guidelines and training for client transfers and clean-up procedures.
2. Provides assistance and supervision to all clients during lunch.Responsible for following established safety procedures in the cafeteria.Sets up individual client eating areas, adaptive equipment, and special food preparation as dictated by dietary needs.Staff will clean up individual eating sites after the client has completed lunch.
3.Assists with client breaks, snacks, or special activities as needed.
4.Rigid adherence to all transfer training techniques and clean-up procedures.Correct use of safety equipment is needed to provide clients and staff with the safe environment needed.
5.Follows closely all regulations involving the OSHA Blood-borne Pathogens Standards.
6.Soiled client clothing is placed in a plastic bag and taken home for laundering.No client laundry is to be done at work.
7.Provides client dignity and privacy during all personal care procedures.
8.Maintain clients personal care product inventory.Notifies supervisor when clients forget to bring in their own supplies or when they are running low.
9.Assists clients with removing and putting on outerwear including coats, jackets, hats, mittens, etc. upon arrival or departure from the program.Items will be placed neatly on coat racks during the program day.
10.Staff will notify the Case Manager immediately of any physical/emotional signs of possible neglect displayed by the clients.
11.Responsible for completely documenting any client/staff accident or incident reports on the appropriate forms before leaving work for the day.All documentation will be given to the Operations Administrator.
12.Responsible for assistance in keeping the staff break area neat and clean at all times.
13.Rigid adherence to cleanliness standards established by the program for use during the provision of personal cares services for the clients.
14.Assist as requested with individualized client services as directed by supervisory staff.
15. Collects individual client lunches, labels them, and stores them in cooler until designated lunch break.

Education and Experience
High School Diploma, GED, or evidence of equivalent basic skill in related area is required.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
CNA/CBRF training and certification is required. Must be in good standing in the state nursing registry.
