Position Summary: This opening is within the firms Medical Legal Partnership division. It seeks to improve health outcomes for low-income members of the community by providing legal solutions to health-harming legal needs; clients will include people living with low incomes, disabilities, members of the LGBTQ community and those experiencing homelessness.

The successful candidate will be responsible to:

• Provide a broad range of legal assistance from advice and counsel to full representation for all clients in a wide-range of civil legal matters.
• Establish and maintain onsite presence with partner providers.
• Conduct community outreach, education and training for and with provider partners.
• Develop relationships by collaborating with a range of public and private community partners like government agencies, courts and community-based organizations.

Qualifications:

• J.D. and NYS Bar Admission (can be considered if NYS Bar exam has been passed and formal admission is pending)
• Desire, commitment and sensitivity to assist low-income and under-served communities.
• Knowledge of legal principals of civil practice.
• Second language fluency preferred, but not required.
• Strong personal work ethic, interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a dynamic team.
• Cultural competency to work with clients challenged by poverty across a spectrum of diversity.
