    Reports to: HS Principal, Supervisor, and Director of Vocational Education and CTE
    Job Purpose: Provide instruction to high school students in multiple areas of Industrial Arts including, but not limited to, construction, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, welding and more. To develop in each student an insight and understanding of the construction industry and its place in our society; to discover and develop talents of students in the technical fields’ to develop practical problem-solving skills related to the materials and processes of industry; to develop in each student, skills in the safe use of tools and machines. To prepare students with the technical skills needed to be successful in the above named, Industrial Arts fields.
    Qualifications - Required
    Appropriate NJ CTE Certification
    Ability to use and instruct students in various construction related curriculum and equipment
    Ability to apply the engineering practices into lessons
    Ability to apply OSHA safety standards
    Ability to differentiate instruction
    Ability to motivate high school students
    Ability to use various materials including wood, metal, welding, plumbing, and electrical tools
    Knowledge of New Jersey Student Learning Standards
    Ability to integrate technology effectively
    Ability to write and follow lesson plans
    Strong classroom management
    Strong technical ability
    Skill and dexterity in working with tools, materials, and machines
    Ability to speak English clearly and accurately
    Excellent communication skills, oral and written
    Ability to make learning relevant to students
    Ability to create and implement differentiated course assessments
    Ability to use student assessment data to support student growth
    Ability to assess student level of learning
    Ability to pass the criminal history review

    Qualifications – Desired

    Experience with plumbing and electrical equipment

    Familiarity with Charlotte Danielson Framework for Teaching
    Project-based learning experience
    Experience operating heavy machinery
    Experience with developing and writing CTE Curriculum
    Experience teaching multiple areas of CTE and Industrial Technology
    Duties/Responsibilities
    The teacher has materials, supplies and equipment for each lesson ready at the start of the lesson or instructional activity; gets the class started quickly; gets students on task quickly and maintains a high level of student time-on-task.
    Model the safe use of equipment and hold students to district and industry safety standards when operating machinery and other equipment.
    The teacher has established a set of rules and procedures that govern the handling of routine administrative matters.
    The teacher maintains clear, firm and reasonable work standards and due dates.
    The teacher provides timely feedback to students on assignments and assessments to promote educational growth.
    The teacher has an instructional plan which is compatible with the school and district-wide curricular goals as approved by the Board of Education.
    Keeps informed of the industrial community’s job entry requirements and instructs pupils in the rudiments of getting and retaining these jobs.
    Design and adapt Construction/Industrial Arts curricula for diverse students’ interests and background
    Scaffold skills and learning experiences appropriately to ensure all learners have access to sophisticated tasks
    Use instructional strategies that consistently address students’ diverse needs by including adaptations, modifications, and differentiation
    Guide students to make connections between classroom learning and their own prior knowledge and experiences
    Coordinate quarterly expeditions throughout the school year to ensure that all students connect and apply their learning to real world STEM experiences
    Instructs pupils in use of eye protection and safety guards, and in the use, care, and safe operation of tools, machines, and equipment.
    Maintains professional competence through professional development activities provided by the district, and/or in self-selected professional growth activities.
    The teacher uses diagnostic information obtained from tests and other assessment procedures to develop and revise objectives and learning tasks.
    The teacher treats all students in a fair and equitable manner; interacts effectively with students, co-workers, parents, and community.
    The teacher carries out non-instructional duties as assigned and/or as need is perceived.
    The teacher adheres to established laws, policies, rules, and regulations.
    The teacher follows a plan for professional development and demonstrates evidence of growth.
    Requires the ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable, functional, structural, or composite characteristics of data, people or things.
    The teacher will work with colleagues to analyze data from common assessments to help shape future instruction, accounting for varied student backgrounds & maturity.
    Requires the ability to speak and/or signal people to convey or exchange information to include receiving instructions, assignments and/or directions from superiors.
    Requires the ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagrammatic form; and to deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
    The teacher is responsible for monitoring the safety and well-being of students, including maintaining a clean and orderly environment.
    The teacher is responsible for motivating students on a daily basis.
    The teacher is responsible for performing general clerical duties and following oral and written directions.
    Requires the ability to read a variety of correspondence, reports, handbooks, forms, lists, etc.., and the ability to prepare correspondence, simple reports, forms, instructional materials, etc., using prescribed formats.
    The teacher performs other related work as required.

    Must be able to exert a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
    Due to amount of time spent standing and/or walking, physical requirements are consistent with those for Light Work.
    Ability to go up/down stairs
    Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time
    Ability to use a computer, laptop, IPAD
