Job Summary:
The Medical Laboratory Scientist in the Hematology Department conducts medical laboratory tests and analyses to provide information for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform chemical analyses of blood, urine, and other body fluids.
• Analyze blood cells using microscopic techniques.
• Prepare blood components for transfusions.
• Process and report cultures and antibiotic sensitivities.
• Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
• Manage laboratory supplies and inventory.
• Ensure compliance with QA/QI standards.
• Train new employees and maintain professional knowledge.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or related field, or an associate degree in medical technology. - Required
• MLS Certification - Required
• New graduates eligible for ASCP certification are welcome.
• ASCP-certified MLTs will also be considered.
