Sporting Goods Store Associate

Store Manager

Summary/Objective 

The sporting goods retail sales clerk is responsible for ringing up merchandise, stocking shelves, store cleanliness on shift, packaging bait, filling cooler, food/beverage preparation, accepting payments, making change, spill response & notification of store management, minor repair & maintenance. 

Essential Functions

1. Stock shelves, counters or tables with merchandise.
2. Maintain stock on displays and arrange merchandise to company requirements.
3. Price Merchandise
4. Understand the products that we offer and answer customer questions regarding the items we offer for sale.
5. Observe surroundings to ensure that theft is reduced within the store
6. Accept payment and make change. Wrap or bag merchandise for customers.
7. Make cash drops to safe and reconcile cash drawer at end of shift
8. Perform cleanliness checks and clean the store so it meets cleanliness standards set forth by the company
9. Promote store programs and communicate store promotions to customers
10. Follow company policies and procedures for the sale of all products, and card all customers liquor and tobacco purchases.
11. Compliance with all State, Federal and Local laws

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in a retail business environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, cash registers, and handheld devices.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and lifting all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items that weigh more than 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time or part-time position. Days and hours of work vary by schedule. Evening and weekend work may be required as schedule demands.

Travel

Employee may be required to work at other stores within our region.

Required Education and Experience

1. High school diploma or G.E.D.
2. Previous retail or customer service experience.

Preferred Education and Experience

1. Inside sales experience.
