Team OverviewThe Board Secretary is a member of the Managing Partner Office team and serves as the principal liaison between the Firm's most senior-level leaders and its Advisory Board, to connect on, lead through and ensure outcome delivery of firm- and division-level strategic advice. The individual exhibits executive level communication and presence (written and verbal) required to engage the board members and the Firm's leadership along with relevant, current knowledge of external events and trends that will help inform advice. While not a member of the Board itself, the Board Secretary in partnership with the Managing Partner and Board Vice Chairman shapes the Board's strategies, priorities, and is responsible for implementing Board recommendations across the firm with little direct oversight and shares accountability for the delivery and measurement of advice influenced outcomes with other functional leaders at the firm. The Board Secretary is authorized to act on behalf of the Advisory Board and has responsibility for setting the right conditions for the board to produce world class, outside-in advice. What You'll Do
  • Collaborate directly with Managing Partner and Board Vice Chairman to help determine Board's priorities and matters for consideration, drive the execution of Board recommendations across the firm with functional business owners, and work with relevant stakeholders to determine measures of success for various initiatives
  • Delivers complete and timely information to the board, ensuring the Board has the information necessary to carry out its responsibilities, participate in all Board meetings, and build relationships with Board members to facilitate Board activities and responsibilities
  • Ownership of board meeting specific logistics, including board meeting dates alignment, meeting agenda preparation and timely delivery, capturing and maintenance of minutes and other correspondences of all meetings of the Board and any additional small group/1:1s
  • Responsible for strategic oversight, communication and action of board generated, cross-divisional advice that is aligned with senior leaders and incorporated into operational and strategic objectives
  • Facilitate the formulation of strategic objectives, integrating findings from internal research, external developments, and leadership's priorities
  • Initially responsible for assisting in Board design, framework, and scope; thereafter facilitates, consults and contributes regarding long-range planning for Board meetings, focusing on strategic priorities and other board logistics
  • Oversees the coordination of material provided to the Board for action and information items, including reviewing content for completeness, accuracy, and effectiveness.
  • Drive measurement of progress against stated short, medium, and long-term strategies. Single Journey Owner of follow-up on action items from Board and small group/1:1 meetings
  • Oversight of board-specific technology intended to provide documentation and other communications between the Firm and the Advisory Board
  • Indirect leadership of any board-related administrative support activities performed by members of internal staff, including board member travel logistics, calendar management (board members and internal leadership) and other activities
What Experience You'll Need
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3-5 years experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of board leadership (Advisory board leadership knowledge preferred) and how boards are run within an organization
  • Knowledge of external events, trends, etc. that shape the financial services landscape
  • Experience delegating effectively and holding direct and indirect reports, if any, accountable
  • Persuasive, executive-level writing and speaking abilities
  • Demonstrated direct and indirect leadership skills and abilities
