Salary Range: $70,360.00 (MA/0) - $85,017.96 (MA/10 ) based on Salary Schedule Placement

SUMMARY: ESD 123 is seeking a Speech and Language Pathologist position to support infants and toddlers within the Early Intervention program for the 2024/2025 school/fiscal year. The speech and language pathologist is a full-time, certificated position directly responsible for the delivery of high quality services to support families with their infants and toddlers with developmental delays and disabilities. This position will be required to work 180 days over 12 months versus a 9 months school year. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist in the organization and implementation of Child Find activities for infants and toddlers at risk for disabilities.
  • Identify children with communication disorders through screening and evaluation procedures.
  • Evaluate eligibility for early intervention services using a variety of quantitative and qualitative measures.
  • Recognize the families' role as decision makers in the early intervention process
  • Participate on the evaluation team comprised of educational, therapeutic, and other special services staff.
  • Participate in the IFSP committee, designing outcomes for children based on family priorities and child's functional development in the context of the family's everyday life. 
  • Provide regularly scheduled early support services for families in all areas of child development, focused on speech language therapy services to children eligible for services.
  • Maintain appropriate therapy service records, schedule of services, and data demonstrating child progress as a result of SLP intervention.
  • Provide consultation and technical assistance to parents educational staff regarding speech language disorders for children.
  • Assist in providing in-service training for staff.
  • Participate in training activities which facilitate professional growth in area of assignment.
  • Maintain confidentiality. 
  • Follow all applicable Board Policies and Procedures. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Supervisory: Assists in the oversight and supervision of administrative staff, Itinerant staff and contractors.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Assists in the ongoing process of securing funds through grant writing, expanding of agency and district programs and utilization of resources to sustain and expand programs;
  • Provide required reports according to agency, district, and OSPI policies and deadlines;
  • Ensure compliance with HIPPAA, FERPA, state and federal confidentiality, data reporting requirements, and laws.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology or Audiology.
  • ESA Certification in the State of Washington as a Speech Language Pathologist
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence preferred.
  • Verifiable successful experience in working with children and their families, in the rehabilitation of communication disorders.
  • Experience and comfort with teletherapy practices.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

 WSP/ FBI background clearance required.

 Requires knowledge of:

  • ESD 123 Special Programs philosophy and practice;
  • IDEA Part C, Early Support of Infants and Toddlers Program Guiding Concepts, policies and recommended practices.
  • Exceptional skill in human relations, verbal and written communications, and leadership.
  • Exceptional ability to lead, work, and communicate (orally and in writing) effectively with co-workers, school district staff, community organizations, and stakeholders.
  • Working Knowledge of Washington State Special Education Rules and Regulations (WAC 392-172) as they pertain to children with communication disorders.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
Work is performed primarily in an office environment; however, travel may be required to local school districts and program sites, and for workshops, committee representation and conferences at local, regional, and state level. Sitting for extended periods of time may be required. Lifts and carries a maximum of 35 pounds. Adequate manual and finger dexterity, hearing, speech, and vision are necessary to perform the essential functions of this position.
