Educational Service District 112 is Hiring a Youth Services Specialist Near Cowlitz County Service Region, WA

Under the direction of the Attendance and Reengagement Manager and Youth Workforce Program Manager, the Youth Services Specialist develops and conducts intervention strategies to increase attendance in our region's schools, and provides services to participants in the Youth Workforce program across the ESD 112 region.

Salary: 

The full annual salary range is $54,672.71 - $66,518.37. Offers are made at the entry level of the range. 

Assignment:

This position will be full-time, year-round and will serve the Cowlitz County service region. The office is located in Longview, WA and the person in this role will travel to their assigned school districts in Cowlitz County. There will be meetings at the Vancouver, WA office as needed. 

Mileage will bereimbursed in accordance with ESD 112 travel policies and procedures.

Essential Functions:
When serving as Attendance and Reengagement Specialist
  1. Provide intervention strategies to increase attendance and reduce truancy in our region's schools.
  2. Work independently with students to facilitate skill-building in the areas of personal and social development.
  3. Provide consultation and trainings to schools on truancy prevention, best practices that improve attendance, and early warning sign programs.
  4. Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and other required data.
  5.  Assist with individualized student interventions.
  6. Organize Attendance Workshops throughout county.
  7. Coordinate Community Engagement Boards, recruit and train community Board Members and arrange for Board meetings.
  8.  Provide direction and oversight to program volunteers and interns.
  9. Conduct home visits.
  10. Teach Parent Project classes.
When serving as Youth Workforce Specialist
  1. Provide employment support services for students enrolled in youth workforce programs.
  2. Teach and support implementation of Work Readiness and related classes.
  3. Work with school districts to recruit students, focusing outreach on targeted populations.
  4. Complete business outreach to develop employment placements and career related learning experiences for youth.
  5. Provide supervision and guided support to students before, during and after work based learning experience.
  6. Provide required documentation to schools to enable participants to receive school credit when possible.
  7. Prepare required documentation for hiring and payroll for student paid work-based learning experience.
  8. Partner with the Career Connect Network to support career explore, prep and launch opportunities for middle and high school students.
  9. Complete data entry and service documentation to program standards.
  10. Establish and maintain effective communication with program partners, staff, and administration to ensure programs are implemented and youth have access to the programs.
Other Functions:
  1. Other duties as assigned.
  2. Participate in staff and team meetings, in-service programs, workshops and seminars.
Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Associate's degree or higher.
  2.  Experience in an educational setting and/or vocational programs for youth 14 to 21 years of age.
  3. Experience with at-risk youth programs and/or youth employment programs.
  4. Experience managing or inputting information into a database.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Juvenile Justice, Education, Psychology, Human Development or related field.
  2. Bilingual Experience with at-risk youth programs.
  3. Experience using computer word processing and database software.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
  1. Travel within ESD 112 region and to program sites; may transport students and conduct home visits.
  2. Variety of settings including outdoors, office, and classroom environment.
  3. Flexible hours as necessary, including occasional evening work hours.
  4. Regular attendance during scheduled work hours.
Employment Requirements:
  1. Successful completion of a criminal history and fingerprint check through the Washington State Patrol and FBI.
