Educational Service District 112 is Hiring a Director of Behavioral Therapeutic Education Center Near Vancouver, WA


ESD 112 is seeking a passionate leader to serve as the Director of the Behavioral Therapeutic Education Center. The Director will play an integral role in the development of the new center being created to serve aggressive adolescent aged youth with significant developmental delays. The Behavioral Therapeutic Center will provide instructional, behavioral, and social/emotional support and activities to the youth served.
 
The ideal candidate will have experience serving youth with developmental delays or significant behavioral issues and will bring to the position successful administrative experience working with Special Education populations. They will have a collaborative and service-oriented spirit with strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
 
Reporting to the Executive Director of Specialized Student Services, the Director of the Behavioral Therapeutic Education Center is responsible for the administration and instructional leadership of the Center, encompassing all of the management and leadership functions required to ensure a successful educational program with behavioral interventions.
Salary/Assignment:
This position is full time, 220 days. The full salary range for this position is $110,449.47 - $134,378.70.Offers are made at the beginning of the range

Essential Functions:
  1. Use data, research and best practices to design and lead special education programs and services that provide youth with developmental delays with a free and appropriate public education, utilizing successful behavioral interventions. 
  2. Manage the selection, supervision and evaluation of staff; providing leadership and supervision of all instructional and activity programs.
  3. Establish program guidelines and procedures for youth enrollment, activities and supports, and ensure the safety of program staff and youth.
  4. Oversee the development of procedures/processes for delivery of special education, social/emotional learning and related services in an extended day therapeutic based education center.
  5.  Assist staff with the development and implementation of curriculum; maintain knowledge of major developments and changes in special education and general education curriculum; facilitate preview of instructional materials.
  6. Participate in the budget process and ensure program viability and financial sustainability.
  7. Utilize crisis prevention and intervention strategies including the use of de-escalation and safe restraint in compliance with Washington State WACs and Emergency Response Protocols in situations where youth pose imminent threat or harm to themselves or others.
  8.  Oversee the development and implementation of specially designed behavior intervention plans integrating problem solving skills.
  9. Develop and maintain productive relationships and partnerships with community agencies, school districts, families, and local, state and federal government entities; maintain communication with parents, staff, school districts and community partners.
  10. Develop and implement program models and service methods including evidence-based practices to successfully address the needs of youth, families and school districts.
  11. Assure compliance with all federal, state, agency and school district laws, rules, regulations and procedures that govern youth with disabilities.
Other Functions:
  1. Provide meaningful feedback to staff that will improve instruction and delivery of services.
  2. Participate in meetings, inservice programs, workshops, ESD leadership activities and seminars.
  3. Develop and conduct program, ESD and community trainings relating to clinical and administrative topics.
  4. Design and deliver professional development to support the training and growth of staff.
  5. Coordinate with outside agencies to provide required services.
  6. Establish a reginal advisory team to partner and collaborate with the Behavioral Therapeutic Education program. 
  7. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Master's Degree in Education, Behavioral Science, Mental Health Counseling, Social Services or related field.
  2. Five years experience working with students with developmental delays or significant behavior challenges.
  3. Administrative experience serving Special Education populations. 
  4. Experience developing program policies and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Experience designing and implementing behavior intervention plans and strategies for individuals with developmental delays.
  2. Experience serving as a liaison with state and federal agencies, professional organizations, school districts and/or other institutions of higher education.
  3. Experience working in an educational service setting.
  4. Experience delivering presentations to large and small groups.
  5. Hold a Washington state administrative credential or be enrolled in an administrative credential program.
  6. Hold a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification. 
Working Conditions:
  1. Behavioral therapeutic education setting.
  2. Work with students with aggressive & self-injurious behavior and mental health issues; must be capable of wearing protective gear.
  3. Job involves sitting, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, grasping, bending, stooping, crouching, pushing,and pulling.
  4. Extended or flexible hours as needed.
  5. Required to travel.
Employment Requirements:
  1. Successful completion of a criminal history and fingerprint check through the Washington State Patrol and FBI.
