Educational Service District 112 is Hiring a CTE Teacher - AP Computer Science Principles Near Vancouver, WA

This position will be a part of the first teaching cohort to kick-off the SW WA Rural CTE Cooperative. This innovative model is one of the first of its kind to offer hybrid instruction in Career Technical education to students across multiple school districts. This position is grant funded and contingent on ongoing funding beyond a one-year appointment. 
The primary goal of the AP Computer Science Principles course is to introduce high school students to the field of computer science. Students will learn to design and evaluate solutions and to apply computer science to solve problems through the development of algorithms and programs. The CTE instructor will guide students in their learning of creative development, data, algorithms and programming, commuting systems and networks and the impact computers have on their lives and society.
Assignment/Location:
This position will be part-time, 41 day contract (.22162 FTE). It will be hybrid, working at ESD 112 in Vancouver, WA and remote, with frequent travel throughout the ESD 112 region. This position is for the 2024-2025 school year, with possible summer onboarding and professional development. Salary Information:
The annual salary range for this position is $11,424.06 - $19,547.54. Salary placement is based on education and experience.  Essential Functions:
  1. Effectively use culturally responsive and asset-based teaching methods in an effort to eliminate the opportunity gap in education and manage student behavior by establishing policy and procedures.
  2. Facilitate active learning instruction to students through planning and preparation to lecture, model, and use technology and other materials to engage learning and differentiate instruction in a blended/online learning environment. 
  3. Prepare and communicate clearly course objectives, learning activities and outline for course of study following frameworks and curriculum guidelines requirements of state, industry and schools. 
  4. Collaborate with students, colleagues, and parents to communicate necessary information regularly regarding student progress and student needs utilizing district software and other tools for mandated record keeping and reporting.
  5. Support CTE director/coordinator in maintaining course and program requirements, including participating in faculty and professional development, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops to maintain appropriate certifications.
Other Functions:
  1. Willingness to accept extra-curricular assignments, including student leadership organizations such as FBLA. SkillsUSA, DECA, HOSA etc.
  2. Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with district schools and business partners to provide students with work-based learning opportunities.
  3. Collaborate with building leaders and other partners to leverage existing supports.
  4. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Education with appropriate CTE Certification or 2,000 hours industry-related experience and ability to obtain CTE certification OR Bachelor’s Degree in Industry-related field with 6,000 hours documented industry experience
  2. Ability to design instruction around industry experience with real-life applications, such as Project-based learning.
  3. Three years of experience in the field of computer science, with proficiency of two or more CS languages.
  4. Experience using ZOOM, Canvas, Google Classroom and other learning management systems in a live, virtual classroom or other learning setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Demonstrated experience and/or training in current techniques and skills in teaching secondary level students.
  2. Teaching experience in a rural school; teaching experience with high school students.
Working Conditions:
  1. Hybrid working conditions with frequent travel throughout the ESD112 region and state.
Employment Requirements:
  1. Successful completion of a criminal history background check through the Washington State Patrol and FBI.
