EDUCATIONAL SERVICE DIST 112 is Hiring a Secondary Science Teacher 2024-25 Near Wishram, WA

General ResponsibilitiesWishram School District will have an opening for a Secondary Science Teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. The position will serve 4th-12th grade students. Our school is in the town of Wishram, WA located in the heart if the renowned Columbia Gorge on the banks of the beautiful Columbia River. Its a short distance away from The Dalles, OR and Goldendale, WA.
The small town of Wishram is rural and an ideal family/recreational setting. The community is very supportive of the school and its staff. Wishram School is staffed with one Superintendent/Principal, 10 certified teachers, and 11 classified staff members. Additional educational staff is provided by Educational Service District 112, Special Services Cooperative.
Staff turnover is generally low. For additional Information regarding salary and benefits, contact Business Manager Sarah Hathaway at 509-767-6090.Essential Functions/Other FunctionsEssential FunctionsPlan, develop and implement courses of instruction designed to achieve essential learning and exit outcomes.Work cooperatively with administration and staff to develop and implement the instructional program.Provide an effective instructional environment.Maintain appropriate records.Teach the approved curriculum.Keep parents informed through conferences and/or reports of their students' progress.Develop and maintain a flexible, effective classroom learning environment.Work with students, staff, and community patrons in an amicable and productive manner.Provide for the supervision of students in the classroom and on the school premises as required.Work to develop in students a sense of consideration for others and of responsibility for contributing to the benefit of the school.Participate in professional growth opportunities.Other Functions: Fulfill all other responsibilities as assigned.Opportunities in extracurricular activities. Minimum/Preferred Qualifications & SkillsMinimum Qualifications: A valid Washington State teaching certificate.4th-12th grade Science endorsement.Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Demonstrated strong skills and background in current trends, instructional methods and strategies in teaching students.Demonstrated strong skills and background in instructional methods including cooperative learning, questioning strategies, and concept development.Demonstrated evidence of effective classroom management skills.Demonstrated evidence of working successfully as part of a team.Knowledge of Common Core Standards and and ability to integrate them into the classroom.Demonstrated ability to use formative, summative, and performance assessment strategies.Demonstrated ability to establish individual and subgroup, whole class, and grade-level/content area student growth goals.Demonstrated ability to use student growth or achievement data from multiple assessments to show clear evidence of growth for most students.Demonstrated ability to use multiple student data elements to modify instruction and improve student learning.Demonstrated willingness to work effectively with students, parents and staff.Demonstrated ability to develop and modify instructional programs to meet individual needs.Demonstrated ability to help students apply all core academic concepts to daily living.Demonstrated successful experience working with middle and high school students.Ability to communicate effectively.Preferred Qualifications: Prior teaching experience in the area of Science.Working Conditions/Employment RequirementsWorking Conditions: Classroom environment.Employment Requirements: Clearance of Washington State Patrol and FBI Criminal History Background check.Wishram School District is an Equal Opportunity Employer
