Educational Media Foundation - K-LOVE & Air1 is Hiring a Data & Business Systems Analyst III Near Franklin, TN

Overview

The Data & Business Systems Analyst III works with the Data Services team and is a blend of the roles of business systems analyst, business data analyst, and data evangelist. Highlights include user story development, data visualization, identifying insights, certifying data sources, and regularly engaging internal customers, encouraging them in the use of data for business decisions, and getting input on desired data, features, and analysis.

Responsibilities

Business Data Analyst:

  • Regularly identify and communicate insights in data, validating those insights with peers in the Data Services Team and internal customers.
  • Produce basic functional, clear, and well-designed data visualizations.
  • Comfortable working in Tableau/Tableau Prep, Snowflake, Alteryx, and Azure Data Factory, among others.
  • Understand and apply intermediate statistical principles.
  • Collect feedback from users and use that feedback to improve work output.
  • Maintain professional competency, knowledge, and skills necessary to effectively perform job duties by taking personal responsibility for professional development and training.
  • Utilize software to collect, cleanse, manipulate, analyze, model, or present data, as well as spot anomalies.
  • Review reports and data visualizations for accuracy, currency, completeness, clarity, and compliance with guidelines for certification or deprecation.
  • Regularly meet with and communicate with current and potential internal customers, engage them with what is available and new things that are coming, encourage them in the use of data for business decisions.
  • Collect input on desired data, features, and analysis from current and potential internal customers, either alone or in partnership with the Data Services Team.
  • Present data and data visualizations to internal customers with clarity and engagement.
  • Train internal customers on dashboards, etc.
  • Well versed on EMF’s strategies and recognize them when discerning/prioritizing projects.

Business Systems Analyst:

  • Understand appropriate uses of various analytic techniques so that data requirements can be gathered based on techniques and/or systems utilized for analysis.
  • Create user stories complete with acceptance criteria, clearly documented and understandable.
  • Validate acceptance criteria are met and reviewed with internal customer on story completion.
  • Prioritize requirements effectively based on factors including business value, cost to deliver, and time constraints using own experience.
  • Responsible to obtain the needed approvals on solution requirements in partnership with manager.
  • Apprise Senior Director of conflicts and/or issues and contribute input for resolution.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and provides regular updates to Data Services team and other relevant internal customers.
  • Help maintain the Kanban board to keep pipeline appropriately filled, issues moving, and accurately reflecting projects in progress, notifying manager when problems arise.
  • Understand systems used across the ministry and the data available from them, and how data needs to be captured or collected across these systems for efficient enterprise-wide reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in: Business Analysis, Marketing, Business Administration, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Social Sciences, or other related field with emphasis in quantitative methods; or combination of education/training with relevant experience.
  • 4-7 years of professional experience in data analytics and/or business systems analytics.
  • Fluency with core MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) are a must.
  • Experience with Tableau, Alteryx, Azure, SQL, Snowflake, Nielsen, or equivalent analytics or research software is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of qualitative and quantitative methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to represent ministry and executive staff professionally and maintain confidentiality.
  • The ability to discern and analyze the critical elements of large sets of information.
  • Ability to work in a team-based environment or independently in fast-paced environment often with minimal supervision, sometimes under tight deadlines, with the ability to multi-task and prioritize appropriately while managing multiple projects concurrently.
  • Exceptional written, presentation, and oral communication skills.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Desire to learn and grow.
