Edscha Automotive is Hiring a Materials Manager Near Auburn, MI

Job Summary

Manage, control, and direct the operations, activities, and personnel engaged in the Material Planning, Warehousing, MRO, Inventory and Production Scheduling.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Strategically plan and manage logistics, warehouse, transportation, and customer services.
  • Create and maintain MRP (SAP) systems that allows for efficient and accurate materials and production scheduling;
  • Meet cost, productivity, accuracy, and timeliness targets.
  • Keep track of quality, quantity, inventory levels, delivery times, transport costs and efficiency.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy through accurate inventory cycle counts, control systems, and corrective actions.
  • Arrange warehouse, catalog goods, plan routes and process shipments.
  • Liaise and negotiate with suppliers, manufactures and retailers.
  • Provide for the proper shipping and documentation of finished goods. Assure vendor releases are timely and accurate.
  • Improve in-plant material handling and storage systems.
  • Develop and maintain IATF procedures for Materials department.
  • Establish and/or maintain effective and accurate communication process to ensure minimal lag from and maximize speed to supply chain members and manufacturing and support team members.
  • Ensure that all essential materials, supplies and services are available and coordinated to meet customer requirements, including preproduction parts.
  • Maintain metrics to analyze data to assess the supply chain performance including inventory turns, dock to dock times, inventory loss, recycling; resolving issues impacting supply chain (i.e. delays in delivery, accidents and etc.)
  • Champion for Federal, State and local regulations including Powered Industrial Trucks, Batteries and Battery Charging.

Education and Experience

  • BS degree in logistics/related field or 2:1 ratio experience to education;
  • 10 years experience in logistics, material control and production scheduling;
  • 3 years experience directly managing material control activities;
  • APIC Certification in Production Inventory Management (CPIM) desired;
  • SAP experience required.
  • Experienced working with international customers and supply chain regions including NAFTA, EU and Asia (preferred), including domestic and international shipping and customs.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent business ethics, and global understanding of cultural customs;
  • Understanding of customer releases and forecasts, use of EDI for planning;
  • Able to implement MRP (SAP preferred) systems in a production environment;
  • Assertiveness, prioritizing skills, multi-tasking capabilities;
  • Excellent English oral, written and presentation communication skills (bilingual is a plus);
  • Strong IT systems knowledge and skills including advanced Excel skills, MRP (Material Requirements Planning) systems, SAP (preferred) or similar;
  • Knowledge of lean techniques FIFO, Kanban, Heijunka, and Kaizen (preferred).

3. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time

4. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

5. The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences

6. The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so other will understand

7. The ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted
