    About the Position
    This is a 1.0 FTE continuing contract position for a K-12 Multilingual/Dual Language TOSA (Teacher on Special Assignment). This position begins at the start of the 2022-2023 school year.
    NOTE: Per Governor Jay Inslee's proclamation on August 18, 2021, all school district employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have an approved medical or religious exemption. All new hires will be required to provide verification of vaccination or be eligible for an exemption as a condition of employment.
    The K-12 Multilingual/Dual Language TOSA (Teacher on Special Assignment) will support District staff in the identification and implementation of high-leverage, research-based instructional strategies, in order to improve the language skills of Multilingual Learners. This position should also be able to support the implementation of the dual language program as grade levels and buildings are added. The position will require knowledge of District procedures and policies and the ability to support teachers in developing their skills in supporting English learners.
    If the District decides not to fund this position in future years, in accordance with the District's certificated Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), you will be placed in another position. Per the CBA this placement will be made based on available positions in your endorsed area and your seniority.
    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Include, but are not limited to;
    • Expertise and passion to support Multilingual Learners.
    • Expertise and passion to support Multilingual Learners in a dual language program.
    • Expertise in teaching or planning systems for a dual language program.
    • Ability to assist with the development of a dual language program.
    • Able to work collaboratively with K-12 ML and DL teachers.
    • Ability to work across multiple school sites and with many teachers and site principals.
    • Collaborate with others on assigned projects.
    • Ensure maintenance of files, reports, and records according to state and federal guidelines across the District.
    • Work independently and proactively.
    • Organize instructional support for ML students with linguistic needs.
    • Conduct specific English & Spanish Language Proficiency assessments.
    • Organize and support state-required testing.
    • Involve parents in school events, share information about translators/interpreters, advocate for second language learner parents/students.
    • Provide content knowledge and resources to general education staff about learning and teaching including; Sheltered Instruction strategies, assessment, interpretation of assessment results, curriculum implementation, and research on effective classroom practices to support English learners.
    -Conduct job-a-likes and other professional development meetings.
    • Analyze ELPA/WIDA data and assist EL teachers with goals and objectives.
    Required Qualifications:
    Washington State Teaching Certificate with an English Learner endorsement, or the ability to obtain one prior to the position start date.
    Although not required, preference will be given to Spanish Bilingual applicants and those with prior experience as an EL teacher (K-12) and/or DL teacher.

    Salary:
    2021-22 Salary Schedule range: $69,131.00 through $124,959.00 (2022-23 salary schedule yet to be finalized). Placement on this salary schedule is determined by FTE and official documentation verifying Educational Level and Certificated Work Experience and will be prorated for less than a full year and/or FTE.
    Benefits:
    Our benefits package includes Washington state health insurance coverage (SEBB) and a Washington state retirement package for eligible positions. Eligibility for health insurance at the time of hire is determined by holding at least a .5 FTE continuing contract position, or being hired into a non-continuing position that is anticipated to reach 630 hours during the school year. Eligibility for retirement at the time of hire is determined by holding at least a .6 FTE contract (continuing or non-continuing). Exceptions may be made for certain job share and/or leave replacement situations.
