JOB DESCRIPTION

Title: General Maintenance

Department: Maintenance

Immediate Supervisor: Maintenance Supervisor or Designee

Job Goal: To help maintain the physical school plant in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use of it may be made at all times.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Operate and maintain trucks and equipment as required (minor greasing and oiling of equipment). 
  1. Install and/or repair fence, drainage, playground equipment, backstops, goal posts, etc.
  1. Hauling of district equipment and supplies.
  1. Painting of district parking lots.
  1. Minor concrete and asphalt jobs.
  1. Load and unload vehicles.
  1. Procure supplies and equipment as needed.
  1. Keep accurate inventory of parts, supplies, and tools.

9. Clean blacktop, walkways, stairs, roofs, etc.

  1. Comply with all relevant local, state, and national building and safety codes.

Length of Contract: Two hundred forty-five (245) contract days. 

Salary commensurate with experience on the negotiated agreement of the Support

Employees of Edmond (SEE).

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Maintenance

Supervisor in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policies, state law, and the negotiated agreement with the Support Employees of Edmond (SEE).

None.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL) and a driving record that is acceptable to the school’s insurance carrier.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, staff, parents, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to plan budgets and use the mathematical skills required to do so. Maintain accurate records and support documentation for projects under the supervision of the position.

REASONING SKILLS:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds such as building materials. Occasionally the employee will lift and/or move up to 90 lbs such as motors. The employee will sometimes push/pull items such as tables, scaffolds, and air compressors. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works indoors and will occasionally work outdoors. The employee will work near or with moving mechanical equipment. The employee must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally will work in a loud area.
