POSITION OVERVIEW

About the Position

 To assist the Special Education and General Education Classroom Teachers with behavioral supervision and support, supporting students with Individualized Education Plans, monitoring groups of students by performing a variety of behavioral support activities to ensure a positive and effective learning environment. Their duties include addressing behavior management safety needs, supporting emotional and social needs, giving academic support, and implementing behavioral intervention plans. They also deal with physical management, behavior de-escalations, and undertake student reviews with teachers and staff regularly. Behavioral Assistants will also collect data, write student reports, and ensure health and hygiene protocols are adhered to.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• High School Diploma or GED

Experience

• One or more years in behavioral health or childcare experience. 

Other Requirements

• Must possess or have the ability to possess a valid Arizona Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card

Preferred Requirements

• CPR/First Aide Certification
• CPI (Non-violent crisis prevention and intervention) techniques on a regular basis

ESSENTIAL JOB TASKS

• Utilize behavioral techniques to address target behaviors and reinforce positive behaviors. 
• Implement and model alternative communication intervention strategies for the purpose of teaching students to communicate effectively. 
• Implement modifications, accommodations and behavioral plans as outlined in student IEPs. 
• Adhere to the guidelines of the school.
• Follow all HIPPA statutes to protect student's rights, anonymity and confidentiality in all interactions.
• Manage, document and implement behavioral programs for students who are in need of behavioral support. 
• Used CPI (non-violent crisis prevention and intervention) techniques on a regular basis. 
• Maintain daily data via graphing, case notes and communication log. 
• Communicate with school administration, schoolteachers and special education teacher to help the development of IEP's and behavior plans for students
• Implement one-to-one behavior intervention services and IEP educational goals with assigned students.

Working Conditions

Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, crouch, bend, walking up and down stairs/ramps, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
