Job Purpose Statement/s: The job of “Teacher-Librarian” is charged with implementing age-appropriate instructional programs for students utilizing library and technology resources; educating students on the proper use of the library and technology resources and maintaining a library collection at the school site by selecting appropriate items in support of classroom instruction.
Required Attachments:
This position will work Monday – Friday, between 9:20 am – 2:30 pm, and will began employment in the 2022-23 school year.
Preference given to applicants with prior work as a public-school librarian, Skyward experience, training in Character Strong and a background of working with MS students; with passion & experience in social justice and/or equity work.
The work of the library/media specialist is integral to the instructional work at Reeves Middle School. The librarian promotes information literature by helping students learn the skills required to access, synthesize, produce and communicate information. A critical skill is the ability to collaborate with teachers to integrate information literacy with the academic content that students are pursuing in various classes. Another key role of this position is to serve as a technology equipment resource for staff and students.
The library/media specialist must create an inviting physical and emotional environment in which students will choose to spend time when their schedules permit.

Skills to take a leadership role in technology advancement in the school, including the instruction of both students and staff. Skills to design instructional experiences in the library/computer center.
Knowledge of applicable grade-level curriculum, age-appropriate teaching methods, state curriculum frameworks, and an understanding of student interests and needs.
Abilities to perform a variety of specialized and responsible tasks, maintain records, establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, parents, other school personnel, and meet schedules and deadlines. Significant physical abilities may include lifting/carrying, reaching/handling, talking/hearing conversations, near/far visual acuity/depth perception/accommodation/ field of vision, and standing/walking for varying periods of time.
