As a result of ongoing growth, we are looking to add a Contracting Officer to our Contracts Team supporting both commercial and government contracts. This newly created role will support the continued growth in contracting projects and will work closely with our Finance team, Government Project Managers and senior leaders to ensure the delivery of contracts on-time and according to our contracting policies. We are looking for a self-starter. Someone who is continuously looking for improvements and who can effortlessly prioritize multiple deliverables, demonstrate a high degree of contracts acumen and work with multiple stakeholders to assess needs and report the contractual impacts of project decisions in a timely manner.

Reporting to the Senior Counsel, the Contracting Officer will be responsible for providing support to all government proposal and contracting activities, and some commercial support as needed. This role will be responsible for the ongoing contract administration duties and ensuring a timely response to customers and project teams.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Reviews client solicitation for contractual requirements and prepares required documentation
  • Prepares Excel templates for building rate schedules and cost proposals in response to federal client requirements
  • Reviews rate and cost information to ensure federally compliant rates and other data are current, accurate and complete
  • Develops, maintains, and keeps current all electronic contract documentation in a concise, organized manner
  • Performs day-to-day contract administration duties such as reviewing and coordinating contract documents for signature, managing FAR clause requirements, entering data into forms, and managing contract data in the accounting system
  • Ensures timely response to customer and program issues; provides contractual advice to the project team and supporting departments
  • Facilitates issues and required documentation to ensure a timely response to the customer or other internal/external clients
  • Builds strong relationships with the project team and within the supporting departments (accounting, legal, insurance) and regularly communicates status of requirements and deadlines
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned

Minimum Requirements


KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Defense Acquisition Regulations (DFAR) guidelines and U.S. Government contracting
  • Working knowledge of contracting concepts and ability to implement company and client requirements
  • Professional, self-motivated, well-organized and detail-oriented with the flexibility and ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks with short turnaround times
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and externally to maximize performance, creativity, and problem solving.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines, with minimal management oversight
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software, including complex Excel spreadsheets with formulas
  • Excellent writing and people skills
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Attention to administrative detail

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Graduate degree in Business, Public Administration, or Law is considered a plus
  • One (1) or more of the following desired professional designations:
    • Certified Federal Contracts Manager (CFCM)
    • Certified Commercial Contracts Manager (CCCM)
    • Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM)
    • Defense Acquisitions Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) certification

EXPERIENCE:

  • Five (5) years or more of contracts-related experience
  • Experience with federal contracting requirements
  • Experience conducting a wide range of acquisition lifecycle activities to include, but not limited to, acquisition planning, contract awarding and closeout, source selection, firm fixed-price contracts, cost analysis and negotiation
  • Experience with contracts in a research and development (R&D) environment is preferred
