JOB SUMMARY:
Edible Asheville is a food and lifestyle magazine based in Asheville. We're seeking a Digital Editor to oversee our social media activity on Instagram and Facebook, the two social media platforms we use, and to set goals for expanding the audience and building increased engagement with the Edible Asheville posts.
The Digital Editor will work with the publisher to create a calendar of posts, stories and reels, and then oversee the creation and posting of that content. The Digital Editor engages with the accounts of our advertisers and other influential businesses, organizations and individuals. This includes liking, following, and commenting on other posts.
The Digital Editor will work on a part-time basis, an estimated 5-6 hours per week. Some of the work can be done remotely, but the Digital Editor will have to be available to attend events and create content at various locations in the Asheville are (restaurants, breweries, festivals, etc).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Work with the publisher to create a calendar of social media posts at the start of each issue cycle - every 2.5 months - using Google Spreadsheets to keep track of the activity.
● Oversee the publication of two posts per week, with one of those posts usually being content from the print magazine. Navigate Dropbox to cull through inventory of photos taken for magazine features and select dynamic images for social media. Read through print magazine features to be able to summarize the content for social media.
● Oversee the production of two to three original posts per month, with at least one of those being a reel.
● Occasionally work directly with advertisers to coordinate the logistics of a planned post (ie, when to arrive for an event).
● Oversee the growth of the audience and engagement with the posts, taking the lead to make sure goals are met.
QUALIFICATIONS:
● A demonstrated ability to manage and grow a social media presence on Instagram and Facebook
● A demonstrated ability to take dynamic photos and videos - and write short and snappy copy - that grab the attention of a social media audience
● A demonstrated ability to create and edit reels
● The ability and willingness to offer creative ideas for showcasing our magazine content and our advertisers
● Good time management, ability to work well independently, and a professional demanour when interacting with advertisers
● A familiarity with Dropbox and the ability to use this cloud service to find assets for social media posts
