General Summary:

The Group Facilitator position is responsible for connecting with Group Climbing Event participants and to deliver a safe and fun event. The Group Facilitator is a group’s guide to the gym. If a client wants to boulder, the Group Facilitator helps them understand the rules, etiquette, and some basic movement. If they want to rope climb, the Group Facilitator harnesses them up and belays for them. The Group Facilitator works with a variety of age ranges and often provides new climbers with their first experience on a climbing wall.

The Group Facilitator may also have opportunities to grow within the company. Edgeworks prides itself on hiring from within and there may be opportunities to be trained in a number of paths, including Front Desk, Youth and/or Adult Instruction, and even guiding. The Group Facilitator reports directly to the Climbing School Manager. 

Core Functions:

• Exemplify outstanding customer service fitting with the Edgeworks Core Values, Mission and Brand while constantly displaying a positive attitude.
• Arrive on time for all scheduled shifts to prepare any necessary gear for scheduled groups.
• Maintain a positive attitude for the duration of the class.
• Provide clear communication to other staff, parents, and participants.
• Give gym orientations and rules in an engaging manner.

Principal Activities:

CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE

• Arrive at the gym and be ready for the scheduled shift on time. Be available to help with shoes and/or harness, and provide safety directions to participants at the start of the course.
• Meet all needs with a positive attitude and a willingness to help.
• Become familiar with all Edgeworks memberships, programs, products and retail offerings to the extent that the Youth Instructor can direct students to the right person or place to find further information.

Qualifications:

• Positive attitude and outgoing personality.
• Have and maintain Edgeworks top rope belay certifications.
• Available for 12 hours on the weekends per month.
• Be able and willing to receive and give direct, timely and appropriate feedback.
• Experience working with youth and/or groups preferred.
• Have and maintain Edgeworks top rope belay certifications.
• Be self-motivated and able to balance multiple, simultaneous priorities.
• Experience communicating in a clear and efficient manner.

Employment Status:

• Part-Time (Weekend availability required)
