Title : Engineering Technician
Division/Department: Operations
FLSA Status: Salaried, Non-Exempt
I. POSITION IN ORGANIZATION
a. Reports To: HSES Manager
b. Directly Supervises: N/A
c. Indirectly Supervises: N/A
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITY:
Responsible for Manufacturing Engineering related technical support and leadership for assigned areas. Supports established priorities to ensure divisional production goal attainment, including quality, service, productivity and continuous improvement using process knowledge and experience, technical skills along with Lean Manufacturing tools and methodology. Coordinates, plans, procures, and installs capital equipment and tooling within Company policy and guidelines regarding capital funding, purchasing and control of proprietary information. Supports Continuous Improvement activities throughout the plants with a heavy emphasis on training and documentation of processes, hazardous waste, sustainability, and other areas of Health Safety Environmental and Sustainability. Performs daily maintenance and monitoring of systems within the blade making process.
III. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Works closely with other organizational areas (Production Teams, Engineering, Marketing, Customer Service, Human Resources and Accounting) to achieve business plan performance and strategic objectives within a Lean Manufacturing environment.
Assists Production Teams in resolution of process and equipment problems.
Coordinates closely with Engineering on projects and Continuous Improvement.
Works closely with HSES Manager to ensure all compliance requirements are maintained.
Works closely with Engineering to ensure successful new product introductions and installation of new equipment / processes is coordinated.
Trains personnel as needed or requested to ensure knowledge and skills will support objectives.
Plays a leadership role in continuous improvement efforts, focusing on all areas of quality, cost reduction, safety, as well as internal and external customer service.
Works closely w/maintenance personnel providing leadership and training on equipment within assigned areas. Makes recommendations for preventative maintenance programs as needed.
Has working knowledge, or is willing to obtain training, and/or certification in areas of Health Safety Environmental and Sustainability to further enhance the skills in these areas.
External: Vendors, Consultants, Customers, Outside Auditors, and Inspectors
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
I. EDUCATION
High School Diploma required. College Degree or Technical Certification preferred.
II. EXPERIENCE
Minimum of three years supporting manufacturing processes and with prior experience or an ability to learn hazardous waste handling, labeling, and shipping.
III. SKILL
Good Interpersonal Skills
Strong Communications Skills, both verbal and written.
Excellent mechanical and electrical aptitude, hands on ability.
Demonstrates problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
Demonstrates understanding of Manufacturing Processes.
Basic Knowledge of Blueprint Reading
Demonstrates Quality Awareness and Attention to Details.
Microsoft Office 365 proficiency.
IV. SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE
Operating knowledge and experience with proprietary production processes, particularly with respect to blade making.
V. OTHER
Must have effective interpersonal skills.
