Edgewater Technical Associates is Hiring a Radiological Control Technician (RCT) Near Richland, WA

Edgewater is seeking qualified candidates for Radiological Control Technicians for our customerin Richland, WA to support Hanford Site.

RADIOLOGICAL CONTROL TECHNICIAN (RCT)
POSITION OVERVIEW
The RadCon Technician (RCT) shall perform a wide variety of complex contamination and radiological control assignments to minimize personnel exposures to radiological hazards and ensure compliance with established regulations and procedures. Duties may include working with routine and/or special detection equipment and may require use of respiratory protection

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Special studies in the evaluation of radiological protection for personnel, environmental, or plant areas
  • Participate in area-specific radiation worker qualification and requalification programs
  • Prepare and maintain records and documentation as appropriate
  • Provide assistance in the preparation of radiation control documents such as Radiation Work Permits (RWP), survey sheets, procedural documentation, etc.
  • Attend critiques and In-Progress as low as Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) Review’s (IPAR) at Rad Manager Direction as a work assignment.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED and at least 1 year of Nuclear Operations Experience
  • Registered with the National Registry of Radiation Protection Technologists (NRRPT)
    • If not registered, a comprehensive Fundamental Academics and Site Academics examination must be passed with a score of 80% or better. This includes a pre-acceptance exam, including formulas and math calculations. The Site Academics examination contains Hanford applied health physics practices.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience with:
    • Fundamentals of mathematics, physics, chemistry, and science
    • Systems and fundamentals of process, operations, and maintenance
    • Reading and comprehension level sufficient to follow procedures, write permits, prepare survey maps, write reports, and prepare shipping and transfer permits
    • Ability to work in the support role including communicating verbal instructions to others

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior experience supporting and/or performing the activities described above at the Hanford Site is preferred
  • Bachelor or Associates Degree in Science, Health Physics or Engineering

WORK SCHEDULE & LOCATION

Work schedules which are expected to be either four 10-hour days per week or a 9/8 schedule where personnel work eight 9-hour days and one 8-hour day in a two-week period.

It is expected that Contractor will be in locations primarily around various facilities in the 100 Area, 200 East Area, 200 West Area, 400 Area, 600 Area, and other areas of the Hanford site providing services to CPCCo facility site locations in support of CPCCo work. Typical work locations are approximately 25 miles one-way but may be up to 40 miles one-way from North Richland.
