Edgewater is seeking qualified candidates for Q Cleared/HRP Escort opportunities for our customer in Los Alamos, New Mexico for the LANL Facility.

SUMMARY

Cleared personnel with Q-HRP level security clearances to provide escorting services for visitors/workers lacking the required clearance level to access secure areas at Los Alamos National Laboratory in accordance with P202-6, Security Escorting Procedure.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: Escorts are responsible for escorting un-cleared visitor/workers into the Security Area. An escort must:

  • Be trained in Laboratory escort procedures
  • Ensure that site-specific requirements for escorting in the area are followed
  • Have the appropriate level of security clearance for the area being visited.
  • Establish that the individual being escorted is eligible to be escorted in the area.
  • Ensure that the escorted visitor/worker possesses a valid badge
  • Ensure that the escorted visitor/worker displays a valid badge at all times
  • Brief the escorted visitor/worker on relevant prohibited and controlled article restrictions and ask if he or she is in possession of any prohibited or controlled articles (at least once daily).
  • Brief the escorted visitor/worker(s) on security and safety requirements for the facility (at least once daily).
  • Maintain visual and aural control of escorted visitor/worker(s) at all times to prevent unauthorized access to sensitive or classified matter by the escorted visitor/worker
  • Follow the requirements for escorting in emergency situations.
  • Comply with any site-specific requirements for entering/exiting the area with an escorted visitor/worker
  • Verify/perform logging as required for entry/exit at assigned Protected Area (PA)
  • Participate in weekly job assignment meetings
  • Attend all daily pre-job meetings with assigned shift personnel i.e., construction superintendents, RCTs, safety personal etc.
  • May be required to perform other tasks as requested by supervisor.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

  • This position requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
  • This position is subject to the requirements of the DOE Human Reliability Program as specified in 10 Code of Federal Regulation, Part 712, §712.11. These requirements include ongoing drug and alcohol testing, as well as periodic medical and psychological evaluations.
  • Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of 1 year from the time the employee obtains their Q-HRP clearance.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Ability to obtain security clearance (Q/Q-HRP clearance, Q-HRP preferred)
    • Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements
  • Human Reliability Program

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Must be a US Citizen
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid Driver’s License
