Edgewater Technical Associates is Hiring a Procedure Writer (Facility Operations) Near Carlsbad, NM

Edgewater is seeking qualified candidates for a Procedure Writer (Facility Operations) opportunity to support our customer at the WIPP Facility outside of Carlsbad, NM.
Per diem is available for those who qualify.
Work location is on-site at WIPP
The Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is the nation’s only permanent nuclear waste repository for defense-generated transuranic (TRU) waste generated from Department of Energy (DOE) sites across the country. Waste is permanently isolated over 2,000 feet underground in deep salt beds.
Job Duties:

  • Analyze, design and develop administrative, technical and work process documents in support of a nuclear operating facility which shall include but not limited to operations, alarm response, emergency operating and abnormal operating procedures.
  • Interface with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) as necessary during all phases of new or revised procedure development.
  • Use advanced questioning and circular reasoning techniques to gather the information needed to generate procedure documents.
  • Responsible to evaluate requested/proposed changes to procedures, research technical manuals, vendor specs, plant diagrams, design documents and station policies to ensure the safe operation of equipment, procedure flow and workability, and adherence to regulatory requirements and writers guidelines.
  • Collaborate with Facility Operations, Operations Startup and Commissioning, Underground Facility Operations, and Waste Handling to revise and develop WIPP Writer’s Guide compliant procedures.
  • Create and revise documents to incorporate DSA changes and ensure compliance with DOE O 422.1
  • Coordinate and assist Nuclear Safety in DSA/TSR revisions.
  • Incorporate HPI and PPA principles into WIPP documents.
  • Provide procedure support to assist in running and maintaining a Hazard Category II Nuclear Facility.
  • Additional Project duties and elements as assigned or directed.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree and 5-15 years’ experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • A PPA AP-907-005 "Procedures Writers Manual" Certificate is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word (formatting, tables, headers and footers) as well as other MS Office suite software (Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of verification and validation (V&V), and documented knowledge and experience with typical writing protocols associated with technical procedures.
  • DOE or Nuclear project experience required. Department of Energy (DOE) project experience preferred.
  • WIPP Site experience is a plus
