Position Title: Constructability Design Integration - Subject Matter Expert, ElectricalThe purpose of this position is to provide support to National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Capital Projects for construction project management with the Savannah River Site (SRS). This support is in the form of Constructability Design Integration expertise specializing in electrical components and systems. This position will play a key role in providing input and recommendations based on sound constructability principles such as reviewing design documents, engineering specifications, purchase orders, subcontracts, inspection reports, delivery schedules, work sequencing, instruction manuals and other technical data to ensure project constructability issues are minimized where possible. In addition to using sound constructability principles, Subcontractor will use industry leading hardware and software technologies to achieve the constructability goals of the project. Work with other functional groups such as engineering, planning, procurement, and construction to review and recommend specific actions to facilitate constructability. The Subcontractor will be a leader and advocate for constructability principles and will work with auxiliary groups to teach constructability concepts, best practices, construction details and lessons learned. Safety is a primary responsibility for all employees working on and off SRS. Subcontractor shall obtain safety training, obey safety rules, and make safety an integral part of each task.
DUTIES:Duties include but is not limited to the following:
- Provide technical assistance on matters relating to Electrical installations having input into the project planning, design, procurement, and field operations to achieve the optimum use of construction knowledge, experience, and new technologies.
- Constructability, work package planning and NEC/NFPA 70 experience which will support SRPPF Field Engineering efforts.
- Provide early input on work sequencing to support development of construction sequence and communicate the path to design and procurement.
- Assist work planners throughout the development of Construction Work Package sequences to ensure design deliverables support the Construction Plan and include constructability input.
- Interface with Subcontractor Technical Representatives (STR) to support subcontractors for related scope.
- Communicates with Design Engineering to understand design requirements and resolve field problems.
- Research Lessons Learned, Constructability Knowledge databases, and project historical reports to gather ideas and suggestions to consider for process improvement on the project.
- Maintain a constructability log with comments that have been provided to other groups and follow up to ensure comments have been properly incorporated.
- Participate in construction related design decisions—provide the construction perspective input to schedules, design deliverables, equipment purchases, equipment delivery configuration and sequence.
Experience / Skills:- Experience in construction related design decisions and planning.
- Ability to read and comprehend construction drawings and specifications.
- Ability to provide constructive feedback and potential resolutions to identified issues and maintain a positive working relationship with project and design team members.
- Foster a work environment that promotes safety, quality, openness, trust, communication, teamwork, and customer satisfaction.
- Proficient knowledge and use of Microsoft Excel and the development of spreadsheets.
- Ability to identify problems or lack of progress against objectives and adjust as necessary.
- Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of management and business professionals regarding project requirements and project constructability.
- Knowledge and recent experience on DOE/DOD/NNSA, and/or commercial nuclear construction projects is preferred
Work Hours:Work schedule will be a nominal 40-hour work week but can be part-time or with interruption between on-site requirements dependent on the support requirements necessary for the project.
Area Security Access:An active DOE clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties. Subcontract personnel must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE "Q" security clearance. After award, the selected uncleared candidate may be required to apply for a DOE clearance.
