Edgewater Federal Solutions is Hiring a Linux Systems Administrator Near Ridge, TN
Overview
This position will support the US Department of Energy Office of Scientific and Technical Information (DOE OSTI) vision to ensure long-term preservation of and access to DOE scientific and technical information through the management and support of Enterprise-level Linux systems. This is a 12-month contract.
Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and maintain Linux-based hosting infrastructure in a hybrid environment.
- Ensure optimal performance, availability, and scalability of Linux servers and applications in both cloud and on-premises environments.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for Linux systems administration in a hybrid environment.
- Monitor system health and troubleshoot issues as they arise, both in cloud and on-premises environments.
- Implement and maintain security policies and procedures to ensure the protection of customer data in a hybrid environment.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to identify and resolve cross-functional issues.
- Participate in the design and implementation of disaster recovery and business continuity plans in a hybrid environment.
- Manage and maintain backups and recovery processes for Linux systems in both cloud and on-premises environments.
- Work with clients to resolve hosting-related issues and provide technical support as needed in a hybrid environment.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and trends in Linux, hybrid cloud computing, SAN, and NAS.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology and at least 5 years of experience in Linux system administration and hybrid cloud computing.
- In lieu of a degree, additional relevant experience is applicable.
- U.S. Citizenship is required per contract to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy Clearance, with the ability to obtain and maintain a HSPD-12 clearance.
- Expertise in managing Linux servers, applications, and services in a hybrid environment.
- Experience with infrastructure automation tools such as Ansible and GitLab.
- Experience with container orchestration tools such as OpenShift.
- Familiarity with Apache/Tomcat administration.
- Proficiency in YAML and Python scripting.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking and related protocols.
- Experience with VMware virtualization technology.
- Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux and CentOS operating systems.
- Experience with Samba file and print sharing service.
- Experience with Storage Area Network (SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS) technologies.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to sit for long periods.
- Ability to view computer monitor for long periods.
Ability to provide proof of US Citizenship on your first day of employment to obtain a DOE HSPD-12 Badge in accordance with the terms of the contract. Department of Energy OSTI's policy direction requires all employees employed on this contract to be citizens of the United States.
